Over the past year, I have slowly explored anal penetration and pleasure on myself. I’ve taken things pretty slowly, but when I received the Xara Toys Thrust Plug, I was ready to try something new. Sure, I’ve tried butt plugs and dildos and my boyfriend’s penis in my anus, but a thrusting vibrator? That was all new territory for me!

Oddly enough, my wife’s status as anal expert of the house was put into question after finding out she’s also never tried a thrusting anal vibrator before. Both of us were excited to try the thruster, and now I’m looking forward to sharing our experiences with you.

Get to Know Xara Toys Thrust Plug

Made with smooth, body-safe silicone, Xara Toys’ Thrust Plug is a remote controlled vibrator designed for anal penetration, though it can be used vaginally as well. The vibrator has 10 vibration functions, with 5 steady speeds and 5 patterns, plus 5 thrusting functions (3 steady speeds, 2 patterns). Users can enjoy the vibrations and thrusting either individually or together, as they are separately controlled. The thrusting shaft has a curved, tapered head for easy insertion and an anal friendly t-base for safety. Only the top 2″ / 5.08cm of the insertable end thrust.

Thrust Plug is also rechargeable and waterproof submersible. The remote control is made with ABS plastic and is also rechargeable, though I’m unsure if it’s also waterproof (most remotes I’ve come across are not, so I’m operating under that assumption). The anal thrusting vibrator has the following dimensions:

  • Total length: 5.45″ / 13.84cm
  • Insertable length: 4.3″ / 10.92cm
  • Insertable diameter: 1.25″ / 3.18cm
  • Maximum insertable circumference: 4.25″ / 10.8cm
  • Base length: 4.75″ / 12.07cm

Care and Cleaning Instructions for Xara Toys Thrust Plug

Upon arrival of your Thrust Plug by Xara Toys, the first thing you should do is plug the vibrator in to charge. Using the included magnetic charging cord, plug the USB end into a charging block or USB port, then attach the magnetic end to the charging port on the vibrator, located on the short end of the base. A light between the two buttons on the base will begin flashing, indicating that the device is charging. The light will stay on once it is fully charged. Charging takes approximately 2 hours for a run time around 1 hour.

The next step before using the anal vibrator is cleaning! Using an unscented, anti-bacterial soap that does not contain silicone, rinse the vibrator, lather it up with soap, then rinse again. All the vibrator to dry completely before storing.

Since the Thrust Plug is made with silicone, it can be properly sanitized or sterilized. Motorized sex toys, like this one, should not be exposed to high heat, so avoid boiling or baking the vibrator. Instead, soak the vibrator in a 10% bleach, 90% water mixture for up to 10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Alternatively, you may use a 70% isopropyl alcohol to wipe down the vibrator, then rinse thoroughly.

Once the thrusting anal vibrator is cleaned and charged, it’s time to have some fun!

How to Use Xara Toys Thrust Plug Anal Vibrator

First things first: always use a water-based lubricant with silicone sex toys! Some brands say it’s safe to use natural oils on their products, however I do not see anything indicating that being the case with the Xara Toys Thrust Plug. Stick to a water-based lube, and definitely skip the silicone lube!

I recommend powering on the Thrust Plug before inserting it. To power it on, press and hold the button closest to the charging port on the base. The button looks like two small arrows pointing in opposite directions. The light between the buttons will flash, indicating the device has turned on and is now in stand-by mode, then a quick press of either button will begin the vibrations or thrusts. The button with the small arrows controls the thrusting and the squiggly line controls the vibrations. Quick presses will take you through the different speeds and patterns.

Apply a small amount of lube to the vibrator while it is in stand-by mode, slowly insert it, then use the remote control to begin the vibrations and/or thrusting. The buttons on the remote correspond to the same shaped buttons on the device itself. You don’t need to use the remote control, as you can control the vibrator from the buttons on the device itself, however the remote makes things much easier.

If the vibrator heats up, it is recommended to turn it off immediately and remove it from your body, allowing it to cool before using again.

To turn the device off, press and hold the same button with the two arrows until the device powers off. Note that you want to make sure the light is completely off, as I noticed the device will stay powered on in stand-by mode until it is actually turned off… even if it’s in stand-by mode for hours. Don’t be like me and accidentally leave the vibrator in stand-by mode overnight!

Our Experiences with the Xara Toys Thrust Plug

When the package from Peepshow Toys arrived containing both of the anal vibrators made by Xara Toys, Cassie’s excitement leaned heavily towards the Thrust Plug. She prefers thrusting over direct prostate play, and the Stroke-Spot is all about direct prostate massage. Though I’ve got a g-spot instead of a prostate, I really enjoy the “come-hither” motion vibrators pretty equally with thrusting vibrators, so I let Cassie decide which one we would focus on testing first.

Of course I let Cassie try the vibrator first! She’s the go-to person in this household for all things related to anal and prostate stimulation. She found herself preferring to use it during couples’ play rather than on her own, though this isn’t an unusual note from Cassie. She’s not as much of a solo time enthusiast as I am, and when she does do so, she’s almost exclusively reaching for her Magic Wand Rechargeable.

During Cassie’s testing, one of the things she realized very early on is that she needs a pair of panties on to keep the thrusting vibrator in place. She believes this is due to when the toy was getting used during sex, as she would often use after already receiving penetration. Even if using the thinnest toy in her size preference range, all of the dildos Cassie regularly reaches far are significantly thicker. That stretch before inserting Thrust Plug is a likely, though only partial, culprit for her needing panties to keep it secured.

The other culprit is that she was rarely in a position where she was sitting or on her back or in other positions that would help keep the device in place. Had she ended up in positions more conducive to keeping it inserted, I suspect that she could have done so without panties, even if she had stretched prior. Cassie disagreed with me, citing that the neck of the insertable shaft didn’t thin down the way many non-vibrating butt plugs do. She believes that a thinner neck and/or a wider bulb on the bottom of the shaft would help keep it in place better for her.

One of the other notes that Cassie gave me about the Xara Thrust Plug was that the vibrations felt like they blended together with the thrusting. She enjoyed “the total package,” and preferred to have both stimulators running together. When I asked her if she enjoys it enough to continue using it after testing was completed, she said “yes, I’d continue using it!”

As Cassie used the plug, I enjoyed having the remote control to play with. It made increasing the vibrations or thrusting intensities much easier, except in certain positions when it was easier for me to use my hand to change them. I’m not always a fan of a remote control, but in this case, I’m glad that Thrust Plug comes with one.

I also took the thrusting butt plug for a few spins myself! I’m much newer to anal penetration than my wife, but I’ve found myself really enjoying dildos and PIA, though I hadn’t tried any sort of thrusting toys anally. The closest I’ve come to a vibrating butt plug is the Oly 2, which was nice for me but left me wanting more. Using the anal vibrator on its own, no other toys involved, was fairly lackluster for me. Only the top half of the shaft thrusts, which I learned isn’t quite enough on its own for me and leaves me unsatisfied.

Thankfully, I’ve got more sex toys than I care to count! It was easy to switch from attempts at achieving pleasure with just the Thrust Plug to using it plus one (or two). This is where I started to really enjoy the thrusting anal vibrator! I started with toys that I knew from previous experiences were comfortable for me during double penetration (DP, or simultaneous vaginal and anal penetration), Dildolls, Nymf Tulipe, Wolf Druid, Universal Series… and then I just kept going. I enjoyed it so much that I was damn near ready to try it with every dildo in my collection that I love.

Dildos couldn’t be the only type of sex toy I tested the Thrust Plug with, though! So I added external, clitoral stimulation to the mix. Having tried cockwarming DP with two dildos and a bullet vibrator externally, I already knew I enjoyed the sensation. Adding movement from the Thrust Plug left me writhing in my bed and again in my shower. It was that good of a combination!

The issue that Cassie ran into that caused her to need to wear panties? Not an issue for me, even if I did penetrate my rectum prior. The dildo I use for helping prepare myself for PIA, Oceanus, is slightly thicker at the base of the shaft than Thrust Plug, but I don’t use it long enough to really gape myself open. After cleaning out, I was still able to insert Thrust Plug and keep it inserted without the need for panties or proper positioning.

I primarily used Xara Toys Thrust Plug as an anal, hands-free device, however I was also curious about how it would feel vaginally. After giving the device a bleach bath and rinsing it off, I inserted it and got to testing. For me, either tight fitting panties or a pair of bike shorts were a requirement if I was standing or walking around. Sitting or laying down both worked without panties, but I found myself preferring the vibrator for anal use over vaginal use. For me, using it vaginally on its own was on par with using on its own anally. It felt nice, just not quite enough to send me into orgasm territory.

I did not try Thrust Plug during PIV sex, but if that changes, I’ll update this review!

Pros:

  • Remote control makes it easier to control
  • Great to use during couples play
  • Waterproof
  • Rechargeable
  • Smooth silicone with minimal drag
  • Can be used anally or vaginally
  • Easy to clean
  • Independently controllable thrusting and vibrations

Cons:

  • A more narrow neck may give the vibrator a better “locked in” feeling
  • For me, the vibrator alone wasn’t enough to bring me to orgasm
  • Size royalty who prefer girth may need external support to keep inserted (tight fitting underwear)
  • Buttons may be difficult to identify during use

Our Final Thoughts on Xara Toys Thrust Plug

Thrust Plug is a big hit for Cassie. She enjoyed the vibrating and thrusting butt plug a lot, potentially even more-so than I did, and I enjoyed it a lot for DP. I’m always a fan of toys that both my wife and I can get pleasure out of, and Xara Toys definitely delivered. The vibrator now lives in Cassie’s nightstand, right next to her Magic Wand, which I think is a pretty big indicator of how much she enjoyed it!

I would recommend Xara Toys Thrust Plug to anyone who enjoys the internal sensation of thrusting, but does not want to feel that sensation directly on their sphincter. The curved tip may be good for prostate or g-spot stimulation, though position matters significantly.
