I love getting to try sex toys that provide a type of stimulation that’s new to me. Hot Octopuss’s Pulse Queen is exactly that, a new to me type of stimulation: oscillation. Oscillation is subtly different that vibrations, giving a tapping type of sensation. Sure I’ve tried tappers before, but not deep rumbly tappers. Not anything quite like this at all, in fact.

Get to Know Hot Octopuss’s Pulse Queen
With a smooth silicone surface and an ABS plastic accent, Hot Octopuss’s Pulse Queen oscillates to deliver direct clitoral stimulation. The oscillation feels similar to tapping, only deep and rumbly. Some of the vibration caused by oscillation does travel up the handle. There are 7 different modes, including 1 steady and 6 patterns, each of which has 9 frequencies, or speeds. Pulse Queen is controlled with 3 buttons, located on the handle.
The brand refers to Pulse Queen as a wand, but when I think of a wand, I’m thinking of a very specific shape: a rounded head with a narrow neck that leads down to a long handle. Pulse Queen is not that. Instead, it has a slightly curved handle with a wide “head” that narrows down to a peak on the contact surface. The contact surface is designed to stimulate not just the clitoris, but also the labia around it.
Pulse Queen, and other sex toys made by Hot Octopuss, use PulsePlate Technology™, a patented technology owned by Hot Octopuss. The technology was originally inspired by the medical science industry, specifically technology used to help people with a penis and a spinal cord injury achieve ejaculation without an erection. Hot Octopuss applied the medical science to a consumer level range of products, first for penis having people, then for vulva having people. The PulsePlate uses “precise frequency and amplitude of vibrations” to enable people to have orgasms, even if they struggle with conventional sex and masturbation.
The device is available in one color, teal-ish green. It’s rechargeable and the charging cord is included, as well as a black satin storage pouch, instruction booklet, and warranty sheet. Hot Octopuss’s site does say the Pulse Queen is waterproof, but they don’t give an IPX rating, so it’s unclear whether that is submersible or splash-proof. Pulse Queen has the following dimensions:

Charging and Cleaning Instructions for Hot Octopuss Pulse Queen
Although the Pulse Queen will likely arrive with a partial charge, it’s always recommended that you fully charge your vibrators before the first use. Insert the DC plug to the tip of the handle and plug the opposite end into a USB block or port. Charging takes about 2.5 hours, and each charge lasts up to 40 minutes. While the Hot Octopuss sex toy is charging, the buttons’ lights will flash. Once charging is completely, the light will stop flashing and remain on.
To wash the vibrator, you’ll need warm water and an unscented soap that does not contain silicone (avoid soaps with ingredients ending in “cone”). Rinse the device, lather it up with soap, then rinse again. Allow it to dry completely before storing it, either by air drying or using a lint free cloth to pat it dry. If you need to do a deeper clean or to sanitize the sex toy, you can do so by giving it a bleach bath in a 10% bleach, 90% water mixture. After 10 minutes in the bleach bath, rinse the vibrator thoroughly so no bleach remains on the surface of the toy.
Since there is a motor, you should avoid boiling it, running it through the dishwasher, or any other method of sterilization that requires heat.
How to Use Hot Octopuss Pulse Queen
After you’ve properly charged Pulse Queen by Hot Octopuss, press and hold the middle, round button for 3 seconds to turn the vibrator on. Once the device is on, use the +/- buttons to control the speed. A quick press of the middle button will switch to the next mode. To turn the device off, you can either press and hold the middle button for 3 seconds again, or you can press and hold the – button until vibrations stop after about 3 seconds.
Apply a bit of water-based lube to the peak of the contact point, then disperse the remaining lube on your clitoris or anatomy. Since the vibrator is made out of silicone, you should avoid using silicone-based lubricants with it. Place the contact point against your anatomy, turn the vibrator on, and enjoy!
My Experiences with Pulse Queen by Hot Octopuss
I first learned about Hot Octopuss at a pleasure product trade show in Las Vegas several years ago. The founders of Hot Octopuss were signing their book, Shameless Sex, and I grabbed a copy and learned a bit about the Pulse Queen from one of the sales people. I didn’t get one then, but I was later given one of their penis vibrators by a friend and my wife wasn’t a fan of using it. Earlier this year, someone from the brand reached out to invite me to their affiliate program and here we are.
Hot Octopuss is, overall, a very sex positive brand, though I am not a fan of how gendered their website is. They try to skirt around it, with a “Sex Toys for All” category, but fall short with Pulse Queen’s gendered name and a bundle called “His & Hers.” The brand does have articles and guides aimed specifically at non-binary and LGBTQIA+ people, so I can only hope that future products will drop the gendered terminology in leu of gender neutral terms like “royalty” or “monarch.”
Arriving in a simple brown box, the Pulse Queen ships from the UK. The product box itself isn’t particularly fancy or luxurious, but I don’t think that Hot Octopuss is trying to position itself as a luxury brand. The packaging is basic and minimal, with a thin cardboard box and a plastic insert to help keep the box shape and hold the vibrator. Both may be recyclable, depending on your local recycling facilities.
I’m a fan of the surface feel of the silicone on this vibrator. It’s pretty smooth, with minimal drag beneath my finger, though I need lube when actually using the device. I’ve tried without lube, which only felt good if I had a warm up before and was already aroused. Once my body was aroused… whew. Orgasms were plentiful with Pulse Queen!
Using the vibrator without a toy inserted vaginally and/or anally wasn’t as reliable for achieving orgasm, though. It’s pleasurable on its own, but orgasmic? Not every time. I’d say it was close to a 50/50 split. My clitoris is a picky lil button sometimes, and not all types of stimulation are as good for clitoral orgasms for me. I can have more reliable clitoral orgasms when I’m also receiving penetration at the same time, or at the very least, cockwarming a dildo.
During solo play, my orgasms with Pulse Queen flowed much faster and with more frequency if I had a dildo, vibrator, pussy plug, or butt plug inserted. I’m not coordinated enough for thrusting a dildo into myself comfortably while also using the vibrator, so cockwarming was it for me and I don’t mind that at all. My preferred toys to use with the vibrator were all toys that put pressure on my g-spot in some way. The blended orgasms were plentiful when paired with a great g-spot toy!
Using Pulse Queen while receiving penetration from a partner or sex machine provided me with euphoric explosions of pleasure that left me speechless and panting by the end. The handle made it easy for me to hold against myself, which I preferred over letting my partners hold it for me. I don’t feel that it got in the way between our bodies, though I confess that I don’t have a plus size partner to test how comfortable the device is between two fat bodies.
Since orgasms flowed so quickly for me with Pulse Queen, I decided to test my luck one night. With less than 9 minutes left on the chicken’s timer, I grabbed the vibrator from the drying rack, stripped out of my clothes to pull on my robe, and managed to actually get off with less than 3 minutes remaining on my kitchen timer. The efficiency of pleasure delivery is one that blew my mind, and one that kept me reaching for the device repeatedly questioning “ok but does it work so well every time?”
For me, the answer was “no.” Not because of the device, but because I am not a quickie kind of person. I love long, drawn out pleasure sessions, and I’m always keen to find toys that can keep up or adapt to my desires as needed. Sometimes my environment required a quickie, like while I was cooking dinner, and sometimes my body wants to lay in bed until there’s a puddle of sweat and squirt accumulating beneath me. There were certainly times when I thought I’d have enough charge left for a session, only to realize that oops, no it did not. Alternatively, there were other times when I thought that surely the vibrator would run out of juice before I would, only to have it continue going in my hand as I trembled in pleasure after achieving multiple orgasms. I enjoyed using it as a warm-up device, as the only vibrator in a session, and as a tool to get the job done where another had failed, proving itself as a fairly reliable vibrator under the right circumstances (paired with an insertable sex toy of some sort).
Pulse Queen is far from the first clitoral tapping vibrator that I’ve tried, though I dare say it may be the best thus far. The motor is great and I enjoy the range of intensities, but what puts it at the top of the list is the overall shape of the device. The tapper’s surface is oval with a rounded peak that fit comfortably between my labia to reach my buried clitoris. Pulse Queen’s handle was comfortable to grip during use and long enough that I didn’t experience any reach related aches nor any flares of pain in my hands or wrists after holding it in place.
I should also warn you that the vibrator is loud. When placed under a lightweight, summer blanket, I could still hear the vibrator through the door. Under a heavier, winter blanket, the noise was dampened enough that I couldn’t hear it. For reference, I have concrete/brick walls, which dampen noise fairly well room to room.

My Final Thoughts on Hot Octopuss Pulse Queen Sex Toy
After spending time with Pulse Queen, I can see where the hype for the Hot Octopuss sex toy came from. The design is comfortable for my anatomy and the rumbly oscillations deliver ample pleasure when I use the vibrator with a toy that puts pressure on my g-spot or while receiving penetration. The noise level is a downside, but not unmanageable. For $99.95 / €99.95, Pulse Queen is a fairly priced sex toy that really worked well for my anatomy.
If you enjoy tapping sensations on your clitoris or anatomy, I think the Pulse Queen vibrator may work for you. Those with a buried clitoris need not worry about uncomfortable labia spreading or pulling your mound upwards, as the shape sat comfortably between my large labia. The wide range of frequencies was really nice and provides a wide range of options to meet the needs of more people.
