When it comes to non-phallic dildos, Element Pleasures is on the right track towards getting folks off. The owner, Brianna, was kind enough to send me the Butterfly Series dildo to test when she sent me the Universal Series, and I had so much fun testing both of them! Today’s review of the Butterfly Series is a bit more comparison-y than I usually get, but it’s for good reason: it’s similar in shape to the Universal Series, with some differences that you need to know.
Since my first review of a toy from Element Pleasures, they’ve done some website updating! Gone are the stock images of couples, now replaced with pictures of Brianna’s mindful designs and the elements themselves. It’s a nice change that I think makes the site more clear and gives customers the opportunity to see more of the pours that they make.
Not only has Brianna updated the site, though. She’s also launched 3 more collections:
- The Primal Elements Collection: butt plugs that have unique textures for each of the different elements
- The Mythic Touch Series: cock ring grinders, with different designs for each element. If you know me, you know how much I love a good grinder, so I was very excited to see these launch
- The Contour Series: another g-spot/prostate dildo, with an external stimulator arm for clitoral or perineum stimulation
Exciting, right?! For now, let me introduce you to the star of this review, the Butterfly Series.
Get to Know the Element Pleasures Butterfly Series
Element Pleasures has got g-spot and prostate stimulation down to an art with the Butterfly Series. With a slight curve in the shaft and a bulbous head, this design isn’t just going to hit your g-spot or p-spot, though. It’s also going to give you a nice stretch, as the shaft tapers down before hitting the base. The base itself has four “wings” that stick out, creating natural grip locations. The base of the Butterfly Series is also anal safe and harness compatible.
Much like the Universal Series which I reviewed before, the Butterfly Series is available in 4 colorations, each themed after the elements: Skybound, Stonewing, Tidebloom, and Phoenix Veil. The molds themselves are the same, it’s just the colors that are different! The Butterfly Series is also available in 3 sizes, small, medium, and large. They do have measurements for an XL option, but it’s not available yet.
Currently, Element Pleasures only offers toys in 00-30. 00-30 is a soft silicone, with many indie toy shops labeling it as their “Soft” option. It’s got a good amount of squish and bendability to it.
I got a size medium in the Tidebloom coloration, which features a watery blue mixture of blue, white, and teal. The size medium has the following dimensions:
- Total length: 6.5” / 16.51cm
- Usable length: 5.5” / 13.97cm
- Head diameter: 1.35” / 3.43cm
- Head circumference: 4.25” / 10.8cm
- Maximum diameter: 1.8” / 4.57cm
- Maximum circumference: 5.75” / 14.61cm
- Base width: 2.7” / 6.86cm
- O-ring size: 2”-2.5” / 5.08-6.35cm
If you’re using the toy in a strap-on with a built in o-ring, like a RodeoH harness or the Ouch! by Shots line, you can use the smaller o-ring size. If your harness has fasteners that go around an o-ring, I suggest sizing up.
How to Care for Element Pleasures Butterfly Series
Because all of Element Pleasures toys are made with platinum cure silicone, they’re all easy to clean and can be properly sterilized. To clean their toys, all you need is warm water and an unscented, antibacterial soap that does not contain silicone. If you’re unsure if a soap contains silicone, check the ingredients list for anything ending in “-cone,” and skip that soap if you see it. You can also use a specialty toy cleaner, but these are typically just overpriced soap.
If you do need to do a deep clean or sterilize a toy from Element Pleasures, you have a few options:
- Make a dong soup by boiling it in water for 5-10 minutes, using tongs or a utensil to keep it from resting against the sides or bottom of the pot.
- Give it a relaxing bleach bath by soaking in a 10% bleach, 90% water mixture for up to 10 minutes. Make sure you rinse thoroughly with hot water afterwards!
- Become Star Baker of the week by placing on a lined baking sheet and baking in a preheated oven for 10 minutes. The oven should be set to 350F / 180C, and the toy should stand on its base, not rest on its side.
- Soak a lint free towel in isopropyl alcohol and gently rub down before giving it a hot water rinse afterwards
- Run it through a dishwasher’s Sanitize cycle without detergent. Leave your dirty dishes out of this cycle, though. You don’t want food particles getting stuck to your silicone!
Lubricant choice is just as important as soap choice! Silicone sex toys, such as those made by Element Pleasures, should only have water-based or body-safe oil-based lubes used with them. Oils may leave a residue on the surface of a toy, which is one of the situations where those deep cleaning options will come in handy!
Storage and use matter too. Don’t store your platinum cure silicone sex toys next to toys made with other materials, such as TPE, jelly, latex, rubber, etc. These materials may damage your toy! Storing them next to other silicone toys is fine though. Also, don’t bite or scratch at your toys, as you may tear the silicone.
Element Pleasures Universal Series vs Butterfly Series – What’s the Difference?
At first glance, Element Pleasures Universal Series and Butterfly Series don’t look drastically different. Both have curved shafts and bulbous heads, great for g-spot and prostate stimulation. Both have tapered shafts that are nice for a gentle stretch. Both also have similar total and usable lengths for each size available.
The Butterfly Series has a slightly smaller head size and doesn’t get as girthy as the Universal Series. The Universal Series also has a slightly more curve to the shaft than the Butterfly Series. The base shapes are also very different! The Butterfly Series has a butterfly shaped base that has natural finger grips, whereas the Universal Series has a more circular base.
The designs themselves are similar enough that you may only need or want one of the two. If you’re looking for a less intense taper, the Universal Series has a 0.53” / 1.35cm difference between the average and maximum circumferences. The Butterfly Series has a more intense taper, with a 1” / 2.54cm difference between average and maximum circumferences. These measurements are just for the size medium versions of both toys!
Last but not least, the coloration options between the two designs are slightly different. Though I received both models in the Water Element, the colors are very different. My Universal Series Tideveil is primarily blue, with different shades of blue rippled and marbled within. Whereas My Butterfly Series Tidebloom isn’t just blue, it’s also got some white and teals in it as well.
My Experiences with the Element Pleasures Butterfly Series
Prior to the arrival of the package from Element Pleasures, I was really curious to see the differences between the Universal Series and the Butterfly Series. As I tested out the Universal Series, I also tested out the Butterfly series alongside it out of curiosity to discover how the differences added up in use.
Universal Series has a very gentle taper to it. Though the maximum circumference is larger, the taper is minimal. With the Butterfly Series, that taper is far more noticeable to me and a bit more intense feeling as well. Universal Series was nice for warming up for a larger toy, while Butterfly Series could easily slot in as the larger toy. I feel a little crazy for saying that considering Butterfly Series has a smaller max girth, but in use, it doesn’t feel that way to me.
The intensity of the stretches are just so different! Universal Series has a very gentle amount of stretch associated with it, while the Butterfly Series taper is more drastic and therefore feels more intense.
Beyond the stretch intensity, Butterfly Series also works really well for g-spot stimulation. I mean really, really well. Just like the Universal Series, the Butterfly Series’ design is orgasmic. It was fantastic for cockwarming and just letting my hips rock up and down while stimulating my anatomy externally with a bullet vibrator.
When it comes to thrusting, I really enjoy the feeling of tapered toys sliding in and out of my body, and Butterfly Series was a delight for that sensation too. Whether I was hand pumping, using a double-sided suction cup with my ergonomic handle or fuck machine, or having the dildo thrust into me by a partner, I often felt like I couldn’t get enough.
Hand-holding Butterfly Series was also significantly more comfortable than the Universal Series, which was already comfortable for me. The butterfly shape of the base was not only easy to hold, but my grip around the base felt more secure. After testing the dildo on me by hand, Cassie had similar feedback about the base shape.
Cassie did also test the dildo on me in a strap-on harness. The feedback she gave me about it was that it handled better than she expected, as she thought the size and softness would cause it to pop out of me during orgasm on outward strokes. Instead, the toy stayed securely inserted.
My favorite positions for using the Butterfly Series, both solo and during partner play, were positions that made g-spot stimulation easiest, like mating press and riding. Having the dildo used on me in doggystyle or prone positions was really nice too, though with the head pointed away from my g-spot, I had different types of orgasms. Regardless of position, I think every time I used the Butterfly Series dildo, I achieved orgasm.
The soft 00-30 silicone Brianna uses for Element Pleasures has a good amount of squish while still being capable of providing enough pressure against my g-spot to bring me to orgasm. The more I use 00-30 softness, the more I enjoy it, especially with stretching toys like the Butterfly Series.
I did not try the dildo anally, as the size is bigger than I’m able to take. Cassie opted not to try this one because the size is too small for her. If, at some point, I’m able to take this toy anally, I’ll be sure to update this review accordingly!

My Final Thoughts on Element Pleasures Butterfly Series
Prior to using the Butterfly Series non-phallic dildo by Element Pleasures, I wasn’t expecting such a difference between it and the Universal Series. The shape is so similar that I questioned “why both”, but once I actually used them, I understood. The subtle differences between the two models add up to two lovely designs that are both great for g-spot or prostate stimulation, with more or less intense stretching too.
For me, I like the stretch of Butterfly Series a lot. Even though it’s slightly less girthy than the Universal Series, the stretch feels more intense and gives me an even better warm-up for larger toys.
Both dildos have non-phallic, non-realistic designs that I think make them an approachable option for just about anyone. Really, it comes down to whether or not you want more or less stretch! Both the Butterfly Series and Universal Series are sure to hit the spot, and I really enjoyed testing both of them.
