Get ready to take flight in pleasure with the Silc Arts Sparrow Vac-u-lock Dildo, a platinum cure silicone sex toy from the same indie toy shop that makes ergonomic handles. I already love Silc Arts for those very handles, but how do their dildos do? I spent a long time getting to know Sparrow so that I can give you as much information about it as possible!

Get to Know Silc Arts’ Sparrow Dildo

Though I originally learned about Silc Arts because of their egonomic handles, when I realized that they also make platinum cure silicone dildos, I was thrilled. Their catalog isn’t the largest, with 6 models available, plus 4 vac-u-lock versions. Each of their designs is available in either custom color(s) or in one of four house blends, Quartz, Amethyst, Sapphire and Amber. The Sparrow dildo is available in small, medium and large, though only the large version is available with a vac-u-lock hole and only in Firm (10).

Most of Sparrow’s texture is vertical rounded ridges, though the real star of the dildo is just below the tip. Designed to look like a sparrow, the dildo’s tip is the bird’s beak, with a girthy head that resembles the body of a sparrow, and yes, the face does have eyes. It’s a top heavy model that narrows down quickly on the shaft.

Because I wanted the Sparrow Dildo with the vac-u-lock port, I got the size large in the 10 firmness, and I selected the Amber house blend. I’m not sure if they mean 10A firmness, but in squeeze tests to compare Silc Arts’ firm 10 with other 10A toys in my collection, the two firmnesses seemed very similar. There is some squish, though it is quite minimal everywhere except the area around the vac-u-lock port. The size large has the following dimensions:

  • Total length: 8.6″ / 21.84cm
  • Usable length: 7.5″ / 19.05cm
  • Head circumference: 5.5″ / 13.97cm
  • Head diameter: 1.7″ / 4.32cm
  • Shaft circumference: 4.75″ / 12.1cm
  • Shaft diameter: 1.5″ / 3.81cm
  • O-ring: 1.75″ or 2″ / 4.45cm or 5.08cm

The different o-ring sizes are for whether your strap-on harness has a built in o-ring, such as RodeoH panty style harness, vs a harness with fasteners that attach to the o-ring, in which case I recommend the larger size.

Care Instructions for Silc Arts Sparrow Vac-u-Lock Dildo

One of the best things about platinum cure silicone is how easy it is to clean! Simply use warm water to rinse the dildo, apply an unscented, antibacterial soap that does not contain silicone, lather it up, then rinse again with warm water. If you’re not sure whether or not your soap contains silicone, check the ingredients list for anything ending in -cone, and avoid it if you do see that in the ingredients list. You can use specialty sex toy cleaners, but they aren’t really necessary unless you don’t have control over the soaps used in your living situation.

Silicone is also a non-porous material, which means that it can be fully sterilized. Sterilization isn’t needed often, but you should do so if you’re going to share a toy with someone you’re not fluid bound with, if you’re switching from anal to vaginal use, have shown signs/symptoms of an infection, or if you’re selling a toy. To sterilize a platinum cure silicone sex toy, you can choose one of the following:

  • boil it for 5-10 minutes, using tongs to make sure the toy doesn’t rest against the sides or bottom of the pot
  • give it a bleach bath for 5-10 minutes, using 10% bleach, 90% water. Rinse thoroughly with hot water afterwards.
  • bake it in a preheated oven set to 350F / 180C for 10 minutes on a lined baking sheet
  • drench a microfiber cloth in isopropyl alcohol and gently wipe down
  • place on the top shelf of the dishwasher, without any dirty dishes/utensils, and run on a “Sanitize” cycle

Proper storage and use are both an important part of caring for your collection of platinum cure silicone sex toys! Don’t bite or scratch at them, don’t store against any heavily textured or abrasive surfaces, and don’t let your silicone sex toys touch any non-silicone toys such as TPE, jelly, latex, etc.

If you do get a vac-u-lock dildo, make sure that you are using water-based lube to insert the vac-u-lock attachment, and remove the attachment immediately after use. Don’t leave a vac-u-lock hole plugged overnight, as you may have trouble removing the attachment the next day. To remove a vac-u-lock attachment, gently pull the silicone away from the hole to break the seal, then gently wiggle the attachment out of the hole. Don’t just try to yank it out, as this may damage the dildo.

My Experiences with Silc Arts Sparrow Dildo

When I first teamed up with Silc Arts to review their ergonomic handles, I was thrilled to find out that they also have dildos. Their selection isn’t huge, but they do have two really cute models that I hadn’t seen anything similar before: Sparrow and Eagle. Sparrow’s overall shape and dimensions appealed to me more, and since I was already getting a vac-u-lock handle, I figured why not go with a toy that is compatible. I loved the house blend coloration options, and I decided on the Amber color as it wasn’t a color combination I had in my collection at the time (I’ve since added a neon yellow, orange and pink Jackalope to my collection).

Sparrow arrived with the suction cup and vac-u-lock ergonomic handles, and came packaged in its own special container, a large, sturdy, branded cardboard tube. The packaging is really nice, and perhaps someone who is actually good at wrapping cylinders could gift wrap it easily, as it would make for a fantastic gift. It’s also the type of container that could very easily be repurposed at home or recycled with cardboard, something that I always love to see from toy companies.

Using Silc Arts Sparrow vac-u-lock dildo was a fantastic experience for me. The firmness of the 10 silicone felt very filling, especially at the top of the shaft where the circumference is largest. I didn’t need to use the full length to get that delicious feeling of fullness, which enabled me to use the dildo “extra” length for easier hand thrusting into myself. I was able to take the length comfortably with proper warm up, but the swell was hit or miss for me when taking the dildo to the base.

I think it was hit or miss for me because of my levels of arousal and positions I tried it in. The more aroused I was, the more comfortable it was to take the swell as deep as possible. Some positions were more comfortable for that level of depth, such as mating press, while other positions weren’t quite as comfortable for me, such as doggystyle. That’s typical behavior for my body though, I often find girthy, long dildos and partners a little painful when they hit a certain point internally.

I preferred having shallow thrusts or cockwarming with the Sparrow dildo. Shallow thrusts allowed the swell of the top of the shaft to caress my g-spot repeatedly, while cockwarming was prefect for consistent pressure. Both are sensations that I thoroughly enjoy and make it easy for me to achieve orgasm, especially with simultaneous clitoral stimulation. Pairing the dildo with either a bullet vibrator or oral sex sent ripples of pleasure through my body that I couldn’t get enough of. Rolling orgasms, multiple orgasms, blended orgasms… Sparrow helped me have all of them.

The base of the dildo is quite comfortable for me to hold in my small hands, but I imagine someone with larger hands may wish for a slightly larger base. With the vac-u-lock hole, I found that using a finger in the hole helps me guide the dildo in and out of myself easier than when I don’t use it that way. I like using a finger in the vac-u-lock hole more than plugging it, at least when it comes to thrusting it into myself, because my port plug just doesn’t have a big enough base for me to comfortably hold onto.

Naturally, I also tried the Sparrow dildo with the vac u lock ergonomic handle, also made by Silc Arts! The handle worked well with the dildo. Much like other dildos, I did need to insert the dildo by hand before relying on the handle for thrusting. Once it was inserted, I was able to gently rock the handle up and down for that delicious feeling of fullness moving against my g-spot just right.

I was able to ride the Sparrow dildo quite easily with a vac-u-lock to suction cup adapter or with a double-sided suction cup. The vac-u-lock to suction cup adapter felt more secure to me, but both both options worked. Riding it was another position that I had to be a little careful in due to depth and girth, so I preferred a standing ride with it suctioned against the shower wall.

Using Sparrow on my fuck machine was also really enjoyable for me. I tested it out while filming, opting to have shallow thrusts. I’ve got an older Hismith machine, circa 2019 or 2020 I believe, and used a vac-u-lock attachment for it that fit well and kept the dildo straight even at a 90degree angle. Even at the fastest speeds, I didn’t have any issues with the dildo popping out when my body clenched down on it, which sometimes happens with softer silicones.

Cassie did try the Sparrow dildo in a harness on me, which she said handled well. We didn’t have any issues with it popping out during orgasm, though we did have to adjust positions a little bit so I was able to comfortably take the top heavy shaft.

I did not have the opportunity to try the Sparrow dildo on Cassie, though the size and firmness are aligned with her preferences. She wasn’t as keen on the design, mainly due to the face and eyes. If Cassie does try the dildo at some point, I’ll be sure to update this review with her perspective as an anal user!

Pros:

  • available in 3 different sizes, though vac-u-lock version is only available in 1 size
  • 3 firmness options for non-vac-u-lock versions
  • vac-u-lock port is great for using with handles, fuck machine, adapters, or even as a finger hole for better control
  • made with platinum cure silicone
  • recyclable/reusable packaging
  • top heavy design is great for giving a feeling of fullness
  • very easy to clean and sterilize

Cons:

  • those who want vac-u-lock holes are limited in customizations
  • insertable toys with faces aren’t for everyone
  • silicone has some static electricity to it, so hair, dust, lint, etc cling to the surface

My Final Thoughts on Silc Arts Sparrow Dildo

Overall, I’m a fan of the Sparrow vac-u-lock dildo by Silc Arts. The shape is really filling, the vac-u-lock port gives me a variety of ways to use the dildo, and I like the coloration. It’s a well designed and well made dildo, and I like that it’s anal safe and harness compatible. I like that the maximum circumference is towards the top of the dildo, as I love the feeling of fullness moving through me and it’s easier to accomplish that sensation with top heavy models like this one.

The Silc Arts Sparrow is a lovely design for any experience level since the texture is primarily vertical, though the top heavy design may not be for everyone. I’d suggest the Sparrow dildo to anyone who likes to have maximum thrusting options with the maximum circumference of a toy. I wouldn’t recommend the vac-u-lock version of Sparrow to anyone who is new to using toys, though, as the firmness and size may be too much for those who aren’t accustomed to it.
