You know what this dong is made out of? Boyfriend material. Vixen Creations dildos have been on my radar for a while, particularly after Peepshow Toys owner told me how difficult they are to keep in stock because they’re so popular. Now that I have a dildo budget, I decided to buy one, Mustang, and see for myself.
I see it now. I understand why they’re so popular. Mustang is really nice. There’s squish, there’s a firm core, there’s a great head shape for g-spot or prostate stimulation. All in a size that’s easy for me to take anytime. It’s a perfect boyfriend dildo.
There are a ton of dual density dildos on the market now, and not all of them are created equally. Vixen Creations, in my mind, is one of the first brands to offer dual density dildos, starting back in the early 90’s. This sex toy brand is almost as old as I am!
Vixen Creations VixSkin Mustang on Paper
With a slight lean, Mustang from Vixen Creations VixSkin line has a bulbous head, high profile ridge, a secondary ridge, and a tapered shaft. The semi-realistic dildo has a firm inner core and a squishy outer layer. The flared base is wide enough for anal use or strap-on harness use, and the bottom looks and feels like a suction cup, but I didn’t find it very reliable. Mustang is available in 3 realistic skin tones and 11 colorful other options. I got the Green Clouds in the Sky coloration, which features a vibrant emerald green, shimmery blue, and white.

Vixen doesn’t do the best job with their sizing information, so I took some additional measurements myself. In fact, I think that of all the things that Vixen Creations does well, their size chart is their biggest let down. The only dimensions they offer are total length and the width, and all sizes are listed on one page. Having that comparison on one page is handy for quick comparison, but only two dimensions isn’t. Here are Mustang’s dimensions:
- Total length: 6.5″/ 16.51cm
- Insertable length: 6.2″ / 15.75cm
- “Flat width” or diameter: 1.625″ / 4.1275cm
- Head circumference: 4.33″ / 11cm
- Mid-shaft circumference: 4.724″ / 12cm
- Maximum circumference: 5.118″ / 13cm
- O-ring size: 2″ / 5.08cm
Care Instructions for Vixen Creations VixSkin Mustang
Silicone is one of the best materials in existence for sex toys because it’s non-porous, non-toxic, hypoallergenic, odorless, tasteless, and sturdy. Caring for your platinum cure silicone sex toys is an investment in longevity, as a well cared for toy can safely last for years upon years. Caring for them starts with storing them properly: don’t store your silicone toys touching toys that are not made with platinum cure silicone, such as TPE, latex, jelly, etc. Don’t even store them in the same bag that once held toys of those materials! You should also avoid storing them against abrasive, heavily textured surfaces.
Cleaning your dildos is another part of caring for them, and caring for yourself. You should always wash your sex toys both before and after each use, as silicone has static electricity that causes fur, hair, dust, dirt, lint, etc to cling to the surface. Washing is very easy, though! Rinse the dildo in warm water, lather it up using an unscented soap that does not contain silicone, then rinse it again. If you’re not sure if a soap contains silicone or not, check the ingredients list for anything ending in “-cone” and skip that soap if you see it listed.

As a non-porous material, silicone can also be fully sanitized/sterilized. I’ve read to be careful with dual density dildos and heat, however Vixen Creations’ care information on their site indicates some heat is ok, so I’m following their lead here. To deep clean your non-motorized sex toys, you’ve got a few options:
- Boil it in a pot of water for a minimum of 3 minutes. Use tongs to gently put the toy into the boiling water so you don’t splash hot water on yourself!
- Bake it in a preheated oven set to 350F / 180C on a lined baking sheet for 10 minutes
- Give it a bleach bath in 1 part bleach, 9 parts water for up to 10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with hot water
- Soak a lint-free cloth in isopropyl alcohol and rub the dildo down gently, then rinse throughly with hot water
Last but certainly not least, make sure you do not use silicone or silicone hybrid lubes. Vixen Creations warns that they cause a chemical reaction that will break down the surface of their toys. Avoid lubricated condoms as well, as many use silicone lube. Only use water-based or natural oil lubricants with toys made by Vixen!
My Experiences with Vixen Creations VixSkin Mustang
People have recommended the Vixen VixSkin dildos to me and lots of others on Reddit for years. I’ve read about them, I’ve seen people wanting comparisons, and had them on my wishlist for ages. I even tried reaching out directly to Vixen Creations to see about partnering together for a review. I wanted to know for myself, but also for those who have read other reviews of mine and want to see how I would compare the dual density dildos to other brands.

Shopping Vixen Creations site itself has the most options and seemingly best price, but for me, there was one big problem: shipping cost as much as the dildo itself. Since the brand is based in the US, and shipping prices are on the rise with everything going on in the world, I expected expensive shipping, but not double the cost before we even talk about import fees. I was disappointed, until I learned that a large online retailer in Europe carries them. Patiently, I waited for the retailer to have a sale that included Vixen dildos. Finally, one came around that included free shipping, and I ultimately paid ~€106 for the dildo.
To compare the VixSkin dildo to other dual density dildos in my collection, I’d say the squish level is closest to the SHAFT dual density. It’s got a lot more squish than Uberrime’s dual density, but only slightly more squishy than Solina Toys. It’s slightly more firm than the Qutoys Signature Series.
In use, the VixSkin Mustang is a delight. The strong ridge is a nice caress against my g-spot, with the second, smaller ridge providing further stimulation. The gentle taper of the shaft gives a very slight stretching feeling, but it’s pretty minimal. It’s still a nice warm-up for a larger toy, even if it’s not as much of a taper as some others in my collection.
But the dual density dildo doesn’t have to be just a warm-up for more! It’s also really enjoyable to use as the only insertable toy during play time.

The Vixen dildo does have a pretty significant amount of drag, which for me is very normal and expected because soft platinum cure silicone just is that way. With a nice water based lube, the drag is unnoticeable during use, at least until it’s time for more lubricant to get added. The drag is enough that I never wanted to try the dildo without lube.
Thrusting the dildo was my favorite use of the Vixen Mustang. It didn’t matter if I was self thrusting, using a machine, or having a partner thrust it into me by hand or in a harness. This dildo was made for thrusting! The head and the secondary ridge feel divine as they move in and out of my body. Long strokes, short strokes, deep strokes, shallow strokes, I don’t care, just give me Mustang thrusting and I’m going to achieve orgasm. I’m a lucky one when it comes to penetration, in that I can orgasm from penetration alone.
Mustang was not as reliable for achieving orgasm if I was cockwarming the dildo, though. It feels great, and when I pair it with the right kind of stimulation, I can orgasm quickly. Whenever I tried inserting the dildo and just leaving it while using a vibrator externally, I found myself wanting more girth, more stretch, more something. I found that when cockwarming the VixSkin dildo, I only wanted it inserted deep enough for the head to hit my g-spot. That left a decent a couple of inches left for my thighs to grip onto while I rocked my hips up and down. It worked well, but again, my body just screamed “give me more!”

I think what really does me in for wanting more is that while this is a great boyfriend dildo, it’s not at all an intense dildo. The size is realistic and the dual density is quite squishy. It’s great if you don’t want intensity, if you want something comfortable for any time. It didn’t matter how tender or sore or sensitive I felt from earlier penetration, Mustang is just plain comfortable.
The head on Mustang is a nice size and shape for g-spot stimulation, but the softness of the silicone does make it somewhat less intense compared to other dual density dildos designed for g-spot or prostate stimulation. If you’re looking for intensity, this one just ain’t it. That’s not to say it’s bad! It’s just a softer stimulation than some people, myself included, prefer. I want the slightly firmer silicone for more intense g-spot stimulation, like the Splendid Dildo.
Riding was really the biggest downside with the Vixen VixSkin Mustang dildo. I’d hoped for a nice, comfortable ride, but the base’s suction cup just wasn’t up to the task. No matter what I tried, the suction cup gave out in less than a minute. Even when I just went around trying to suction the dildo to various surfaces, it did not stick as strongly as I’d hoped.

The not very strong suction cup base also made using the dildo with my ergonomic handle a challenge too. I could sort of use the handle to push the dildo in, but since it wasn’t fully suctioned to the handle, I had to rely on my body to push it back out. For me, this was just far too frustrating and I quit trying to make it work.
I only tested Mustang vaginally, as the dildo is a bit too big for me for anal penetration and too small for my wife to try anally. Cassie was interested in the dual density, though. If one of us tries this dildo anally sometime in the future, I’ll do my best to update this review accordingly!
Pros:
- squishy exterior layer is very comfortable
- great shape for g-spot or prostate stimulation
- anal safe
- strap-on harness compatible
- realistic and colorful options available
- gentle taper is nice for warming up for larger insertions
Cons:
- disappointing suction cup
- squishy exterior makes g-spot or prostate stimulation less intense
- not an affordable dual density option for many ($136+)

My Final Thoughts on Vixen Creations VixSkin Mustang Dildo
I absolutely understand the hype around Vixen Creations VixSkin dildos, and I see why Mustang is so popular. It is a really nice dildo, with a great curve and coronal ridge for g-spot or prostate stimulation. The dual density is very squishy, which does take away from the intensity of the pressure it puts on a g- or p- spot. It’s a comfortable option, a boyfriend dick option. It’s the dildo you want to come home to every night, but not the dildo when you’re craving something big, girthy, or intense.
Mustang is an excellent option if you want something comfortable, something with a semi-real feel dual density. If you’re looking for intense, skip this one. If gentle stimulation is the name of your game, VixSkin dildos are likely a great option for you, assuming they have sizes that meet your needs.
