SquidlyCo Elwyn Fantasy Dildo Review   New!

I generally like to use this first part of a review to slowly introduce the star of the upcoming review. But if Elwyn from SquidlyCo isn’t designed for a slow introduction, perhaps neither should my review of the semi-realistic fantasy dildo that is ready to open you up quickly.

Oops, I did it anyway. SquidlyCo’s Elwyn is a thick dick with minimal tapering. There’s no slowly easing it in, there’s no gradual increase in girth. This hefty model is girthy, gorgeous, and gush-inducing.

Before I get to the dildo itself, allow me to introduce you to the folks behind SquidlyCo!

For full disclosure upfront, I work for SquidlyCo as their Influencer/Affiliate Manager, and I purchased this dildo. Aside from the interview questions I sent over for the brand bio, I have not discussed the contents of this review with the owners or anyone else working for/with the indie toy shop. As with all of my reviews, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Get to Know SquidlyCo

Owned and operated by Kegan and Elise, SquidlyCo’s origin story starts when the couple met. Kegan was working as an artist and Elise was a 3D/CAD artist for an architect, and as the two artists discussed art forms they loved but couldn’t do, silicone came up. Marrying together Kegan’s vision with Elise’s 3D modeling skills, the two artists began their deep dive by purchasing a small 3D resin printer and learning how to make molds and body safe sensory aids. The indie toy company has slightly expanded past Kegan and Elise, with family support and a small handful of contractors, like me, that do toy designs, graphic designs, and other projects.

Inspired by aquatic life first, SquidlyCo‘s designs also pull inspiration from the natural world and fantasy creatures. With such broad inspirations, Kegan shared that they aren’t trying to fit into one single theme as much as a vibe driven by the interesting and beautiful. Beautiful is one word to describe Kegan’s unique treatment of Near Clear (NC), though I think “stunning” may be better suited for his eye-catching NC Gemstone Swirl pours and Aurora Borealis colorway.

Currently, the SquidlyCo line-up includes 12 pleasure products, 5 sensory aids, and 1 accessory, though Kegan shared that at any given time, they have at least 10 designs actively in their queue. Currently on the horizon: a merman packer, a mech knot, a vampire themed insertable with matching grinder, another style of plug, some squishes, and a set of dilators. Of their current line-up, Adira the Dragon Grinder and SquidlyCo’s Kegal Eggs have both received award nominations.

Kegan and Elise are both science and art nerds who care deeply about accessibility and queer representation. They create toys with underserved communities first and foremost, and have a program to help get packers and sensory aids into the hands of trans and queer B.I.P.O.C. individuals in need. The program is temporarily paused, though they are hoping to get it back up and running in the near future.

Customers shopping SquidlyCo have a few options available: shop their monthly inventory drops of pre-made toys, order a customized toy made to your size, firmness, pourstyle and colors, or order from the archives. Encounter the Elf Dildo, Elwyn by SquidlyCo

SquidlyCo’s Elwyn dildo is an elf fantasy dildo with a semi-realistic design. The head is slightly tapered, leading down to a prominently raised coronal ridge with a second skin fold directly under, giving users g-spot or prostate stimulation. The shaft is round and thick, with a very slight narrowing towards the balls. There is some vein texture on the shaft, though it’s pretty minimal. Wrapped around the base of the shaft and the top of the balls is a built-in botanical ring, from which a SquidlyCo branded pendant “hangs.”

Available in 3 sizes, Elwyn is a formidable dildo that can be customized by surface finish, firmness, pour style and colors. I opted for the mid-size, the 7″ Elwyn, in the medium NC 00-50 firmness with a semi-gloss surface, ordering the red Naughty Nebula from Archives. The 7″ Elwyn has the following dimensions:

Cleaning and Caring for SquidlyCo Elwyn

Since everything that SquidlyCo makes is made with platinum cure silicone, cleaning Elwyn is very easy. All you need is warm water and an unscented soap that does not contain silicone (avoid soaps with ingredients that end in “-cone”). Rinse the toy, lather it up with soap, then rinse again. You should always clean your toys both before and after each use!

You can also sterilize silicone if you’re sharing a toy with a partner, switching a toy from anal use to vaginal use, or have shown symptoms of an infection, for example. To sterilize a silicone dildo, you can do one of the following:

• boil it in water for 5-10 minutes, using tongs to make sure it doesn’t sit against the sides/bottom of the pot
• bake it in a preheated oven set to 350F/180C on a lined baking tray
• soak it in a 10% bleach, 90% water bath for up to 10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly
• run it through a dishwasher’s “Sanitize” setting without detergent. Don’t place any dirty dishes in the same cycle
• soak a lint-free cloth in isopropyl alcohol and wipe down, then rinse thoroughly

If you do get a Near-Clear (NC) silicone dildo or sex toy, you may want to skip applying heat to the toy. Heat can cause the NC to get more cloudy or yellow, though this should fade over time.

Silicone is a pretty durable material, however you shouldn’t bite or scratch it and don’t store it against any abrasive or heavily textured surfaces. Keep your platinum cure silicone sex toys separate from any toys made with TPE, latex, jelly, or other porous materials, as this can damage your silicone permanently.

My Experiences with Elwyn by SquidlyCo

I’ve had my sights set on getting one of the SquidlyCo dildos in the Naughty Nebula coloration for a while. I didn’t have a strong preference for which toy I wanted the color on, I just wanted it on something. The red is just so vibrant and beautiful! SquidlyCo’s Near Clear pours are always so eye-catching to me, with several other colorations on my “want to buy” list. The red Naughty Nebula colorway is even more beautiful in person than in pictures!

As a fan of realistic and semi-realistic dildos, I wanted an Elwyn even before I started working for SquidlyCo. I dragged my feet on purchasing one prior to working for the indie toy shop, mainly because I couldn’t decide which size I wanted. All three current sizes are within my size limits, so it was just a matter of how much dick do I want? In an unrelated-to-my-purchase conversation with Kegan, he mentioned that the 8″ was a lot, and that comment stayed with me until it was time to make my purchase when I decided the 7″ was a great place to start.

The first time I used the dildo, I realized “wow, that is a lot of dick,” even going so far as to refer to the design as “formidable” when telling Cassie about it. The 7″ Elwyn may not have a lot of length to it, but the girth is incredibly filling. No matter how many different ways I’ve tried Elwyn, I’m always coming back to the same conclusion: it’s a really delightfully filling dildo.

There’s not a lot of taper to Elwyn’s design, with less than an inch of difference between the tip circumference and the maximum circumference. Towards the bottom of the shaft, there’s a very slight decrease in circumference, but it’s so minimal that I barely notice it during use.

Every stroke with Elwyn feels like being stretched because of that girth that just does not falter. Having selected the 00-50 for Elwyn definitely adds to the sensation, and I am here for it. It’s filling, it’s stretching, it’s unforgiving (ok, it’s kind of forgiving, since 00-50 does have some squish to it). The closest comparison I have in my collection is the Centaur Horse Dildo, which is also semi-realistic.

During my solo testing of Elwyn, my primary use was to insert it and leave it alone while using an external vibrator on my clitoris. Cockwarming with a dildo of this girth is, in my opinion, the perfect way to appreciate that feeling of fullness. The elf dildo does not disappoint in this way. Rocking my hips up and down allowed me a very small amount of movement, but enough that the coronal ridge would caress my g-spot at just the right angle. The orgasms that followed were flooding my body and my bed.

Holding the base of the fantasy dildo to thrust into myself wasn’t the easiest, as I had to be in specific positions to be able to properly reach. The base itself isn’t a shape that is easy for me to grip properly, so most of my self thrusting was more rhythmically pushing on the base and hoping my body would push it out slightly between each push. Since I did struggle with thrusting the dildo into myself, I didn’t do a lot of it.

Thankfully, I have a wonderful wife who is very happy to help me test sex toys on my body! Cassie used Elwyn on me a couple times, primarily hand pumping the dildo into me. Though I preferred cockwarming Elwyn during solo use, if I could always have someone on hand to thrust the toy into me, I’d take the opportunity in a heartbeat. Feeling that girth moving through me, feeling the head hit my g-spot… gah! It was just incredible. I wasn’t able to squirt or gush when having Elwyn thrust into me the way I was while cockwarming, but that’s usually just an added bonus for my body anyway.

With my order, SquidlyCo included a complementary set of their double-sided suction cups, which I was very excited to put to work testing. Using one of the double-sided suction cups, I was able to use the fantasy dildo with my Hismith fuck machine. I was surprised at just how well the double-sided suction cups held up, providing far less hinge-like droopage than the cups I’d tried before, even with Elwyn’s weight. Both the mini and small sizes worked, though the small size had to be positioned just right since the size is so close to Elwyn’s base size.

Due to Elwyn’s girth, I have not tried the dildo anally. It’s just too big! After I compared the dildo to Centaur Horse Dildo, Cassie did say she’s interested in trying the dildo, though she wishes I purchased the 8″ version or got a firmer silicone. If, at some point, either of us use the dildo anally, I’ll update this review accordingly!

• the base isn’t the most comfortable for holding (as someone with grip issues and wrist tendinitis)
• soft silicone attracts dust, hair, lint, etc

My Final Thoughts on SquidlyCo’s Elwyn Fantasy Dildo

I can’t recall ever describing another dildo as “formidable” the way I have with SquidlyCo’s Elwyn, but I cannot find a better word to describe it. It gives me a delicious feeling of unrelenting fullness that slightly stretches me open, though I can only imagine how much more intense the stretching sensation would feel with the 8″ Elwyn. I’m really impressed with the first toy I decided to test from my first SquidlyCo order, and it’s left me excited to try another, similarly girthy toy on their roster (Kai).

While I absolutely love the fullness that Elwyn gives me, even the smallest size available is still quite girthy for people who don’t like a lot of girth. Because of that, I would only recommend this model to those who want to experience that stretching fullness. I think that the lack of extra textures also makes it a great option for someone interested in Centaur Horse Dildo but doesn’t want the jacob’s ladder or medial ring design features.
