2019: A Year In Review

1. What did you do in 2019 that you’d never done before?
Oh dang. So many things, I feel!!! I went to Mexico and Croatia, both for the first time. I bought a bean bag chair. I ate at 5 (6?) Michelin rated restaurants. I saw a baby peacock. I went to Platform 9 3/4. I made homemade ice cream.

2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions?
I guess? My first one was not to buy unnecessary beauty/skincare/hair products I didn’t need for shooting… I lasted until July!! That’s honestly pretty dang good, especially for someone whose a bit obsessed. Also, I did make a mental list of things I wanted to work on: healing and finding myself again. I’ve worked pretty hard on both, and I hope it shows to the people who are closest to me and know me best.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
I don’t think so!

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Thankfully, not this year!

5. What countries did you visit?
England, Croatia, and Mexico

6. What would you like to have in 2020 that you lacked in 2019?
I don’t know? More self control to not spend money on unnecessary stuff πŸ˜‚ I was a lot better in 2019 than in 2018, but I still spent a lot more than I should have. We’re going to work on that for 2020.

7. What dates from 2019 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Tbh, I don’t think I had any specific dates that were particularly note worthy. A lot of things happened this year that took time and didn’t happen in just one day.

8. What was your biggest achievement(s) of the year?
I found my voice again. I had lost part of who I am over the past couple years, and in 2019 I found that again. I’m not 100% back to being myself again, but I’m a hell of a lot closer than I was earlier this year.

9. What was your biggest failure?
This is tough. I know failure should be looked at as a learning opportunity… but I didn’t see failure from myself this year. A lot “went down” that wasn’t good, but it wasn’t just MY failure… it was usually me +1 or more πŸ˜‚

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I managed to fuck up my ankle/foot & knee after falling while on vacation. I’m a clumsy person πŸ˜‚

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Ring lights small enough to fit in my suitcase for when I shoot at hotels πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ And a bean bag chair.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Literally everyone who made it out alive this year. 2019 was not an easy year for a lot of people.Β

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Close to me? Not really anyone made me feel those two emotions, but someone did make me feel some other ways.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Regular ol’ living costs/bills. And since we’re being honest here… buying a lot of shit I honestly didn’t need.

15. What did you get really, really, excited about?
A few things!! It snowed in Vegas, and I’ve never really had snow before (I got like 4-5 inches at my place!). I started a new vanilla job, which gave me the opportunity to do some amazing traveling both within the US & internationally. I got to meet some British sex workers that I’ve talked to online for a long time. I fell for a cute girl and we became girlfriends, and that’s pretty fucking awesome.

16. What song will always remind you of 2019?
I always hate this question because I really don’t know. I’m not that musical enough to know

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder?Β I’d say way happier
b) thinner or fatter?Β Fatter – I put back on most of the weight I lost
c) richer or poorer? Richer, and I don’t just mean financially

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Reading! And shooting… oh Lordy do I wish I had done more shooting.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Ignoring red flags… in my relationship and in my work. Spend less time in LA tbh.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I ended up spending Christmas with my girlfriend just kind of relaxing for most of the day, though we did make ice cream!! We went to dinner on the Strip with a couple friends, which was really really tasty.

21. Did you fall in love in 2019?
Maybe

22. How many one-night stands?
None, again. I’m just not as into one-night stands anymore!! I want to feel something with the people I sleep with, and a one night stand is not conducive to that. Plus… I’m just not that into hooking up anymore πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

23. What was your favorite TV program?
Grace & Frankie helped me thru a lot of tough times. But let’s be real: the Baby Yoda show (errrr… The Mandalorian) is freaking fantastic.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
Only one person, who I met just this year πŸ˜‚

25. What was the best book you read?
Yo, I read some absolute trash this year. This was a year full of trashy reads. Of all the books I read, most of them were let downs in some way, so I won’t say any of them were good enough to be the best

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Ummmm. Hm. I have no idea.

27. What did you want and get?
I wanted to refind my voice, and I did. I wanted a girlfriend, and now I have her 😍

28. What did you want and not get?
A boyfriend who was working to better his mental & physical health… that didn’t happen, and I wasn’t happy, so now I’m boyfriend free.

29. What was your favorite film of this year?
Aladdin, maybe? I didn’t see a bunch of movies this year tbh. Aladdin holds a special place to me, mainly because of the cartoon, but the live action was really good too.

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 32! I spent time with my friends & partners, and had a really bad panic attack (prior to seeing them, that is).

31.What was one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Being treated as an equal and with respect. Probably cutting myself loose sooner than I did.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2019?
If it wasn’t black or floral, I didn’t want it. Lol, jk. I joined a wardrobe rental service so I experimented a lot with fashion in ways I never had before. A lot of playful prints and/or colors I wouldn’t have purchased on my own.

33. What kept you sane?
My cats and my friends… same answer as last year πŸ˜‚

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Lizzo

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
The continuation of FOSTA/SESTA and climate change

36. Who did you miss?
My parents & my wifey

37. Who was the best new person you met?
A handful of girls at my vanilla job – I haven’t worked somewhere that I was surrounded by people I’d actually want to hang out with, and now I’m surrounded by passionate, intelligent, creative, similar minded women. It’s freaking amazing.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2019.
There’s no use holding on tighter to something that’s already slipping away. And authors who you’re excited to read the works of… will likely disappoint you.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
As usual, music is not my strongest area, so I don’t really have a good one. :/
