Nobody does grinders quite like Uncover Creations! They were the first shop that I was aware of that offered grinders (followed by Uberrime), and they’ve still got one of the largest selections. When the opportunity came for me to review more of their sex toys, I was excited to add a couple grinders to my cart: Tentacle Grinder V and Synstyl Grinder.
In case you’re new to grinder sex toys, I not only wrote the guide to them, but I also made it into a SFW video version!
First up on my review list, the Tentacle Grinder V!
Get to Know Uncover Creations Tentacle Grinder V
A kraken rises from the depths, circling a pirate ship loaded with booty, its tentacles wrapping around the ship to drag it under while a lone tentacle shoots up from the water. Uncover Creations’ Tentacle Grinder V offers both external and internal stimulation with the tentacles wrapped around the ship and another designed for insertion. The tentacles are pretty heavily textured, with suckers on one side of them and a large grain like texture on the other sides of them. The grainy texture is found on both the internal and external stimulating parts.
It’s a strap-down grinder, meaning there are 4 holes for straps, 2 on each side, so that the sex grinder can be secured around a partner’s leg, a chair/stool, or a pillow. Thankfully, Uncover Creations also includes straps with their strap-down grinders, even allowing customers to pick their strap color (for a small up-charge). Other customizations that you can choose include firmness, color style, colors, and whether or not to add the Silky Smooth upgrade and/or include a vibrating bullet hole. All of the sex toys made by Uncover Creations are made with platinum cured silicone and are body-safe and hypoallergenic (though if you’re allergic to tree nuts, skip the Silky Smooth Upgrade).
I let my wife, Cassie, pick out the customizations for our Tentacle Grinder V. She opted for the UC Trademark coloration with black straps, no bullet hole, and the Medium 10A firmness. 10A isn’t a “universal standard” for a Medium firmness, so pay attention to their firmness guide when ordering to make sure you’re getting a firmness that will work for you. The 10A firmness has minimal squish to it and is much firmer than I usually go for. The Tentacle Grinder V has the following dimensions:
- Total length: 7.5″ / 19.1cm
- Width: 5.5″ / 14cm
- Insertable tentacle length: 4.7″ / 11.9cm
- Insertable tentacle tip circumference: 2.4″ / 6.1cm
- Insertable tentacle shaft circumference: 5.9″ / 15cm
Cleaning, Caring and Lubing Uncover Creations Tentacle Grinder V
Before you can get started humping and grinding with the Uncover Creations Tentacle Grinder V, you must give it a good wash! Every sex toy should be washed both before and after each use, so grab an antibacterial, unscented soap that does not contain silicone, and give it a nice wash with warm water. There is a fair amount of detailing that can be hard to reach with a finger, so you may wish to use a small soft toothbrush to clean all of the crevices.
After cleaning your grinder sex toy, the next most important thing to do is grab the lubricant. Uncover Creations says that their toys can be used with water, silicone, and oil-based lubricants, even going so far as to say that if silicone lube damages a toy you purchased from them, they’ll arrange a replacement to send out for free. Personally, I’m going to stick with water and oil lubes!
Oil lubricants can leave behind a film on the surface of silicone sex toys, which can be removed with a deep cleaning. Deep cleaning goes beyond soap and water, and will actually sterilize your sex toys. To deep clean/sterilize your non-motorized sex toys, you can do one of the following:
- run through the dishwasher on a Sanitize setting without detergent. Leave the dishes out so no food particles are floating around!
- soak in a 10% bleach/90% water bleach bath for 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with hot water afterwards
- boil in water for about 10 minutes. Use a cooking utensil to make sure the grinder isn’t resting against the sides or bottom of the pot
- soak a microfiber cloth in isopropyl alcohol and wipe down, then rinse thoroughly afterwards
- place on a baking sheet in a pre-heated oven set to 350F / 180C for 10 minutes
How to Use Uncover Creations Tentacle Grinder V
After cleaning your grinding sex toy, you have a few different options for how to use the Tentacle Grinder V by Uncover Creations:
- attach the straps around a pillow, chair, or stool
- attach the straps to a partner’s leg or arm
- use strapless by handholding the base and rubbing it against your anatomy
- use on top of a saddle style vibrator, like a Motorbunny or Sybian
Apply a generous amount of lube to the surface of the toy and your anatomy, insert the tentacle vaginally or anally, then hump and grind your body against the surface.
One of the complaints I hear about grinders is that the silicone doesn’t warm up the same way as an insertable, such as a dildo or butt plug. Silicone does retain heat, but it may need an extended heating to maintain the temperature. You can soak it in a bowl of warm water for a while, or if you happen to have a basket/bucket style towel warmer, you can place in that for a while to warm it up. Basket/bucket style towel warmers can be found on Amazon, Bol, and other similar marketplace websites for ~$100.
Our Experiences with Uncover Creations Tentacle Grinder V
As I like to do when selecting toys to review from companies, I asked my wife, Cassie, for her preferences when I was placing my “order” from Uncover Creations (they gave me a coupon code that zeroed out the cost of the order, while still giving me the customer shopping experience). Cassie wanted a new grinder from Uncover Creations, especially since The Maw is her favorite grinder, and she selected the Tentacle Grinder V with the UC Trademark coloration and medium 10A firmness. None of the other grinders in our collection are that level of firm, so I was curious to see how this would feel for each of us.
After strapping the grinder to my thigh and lying back on the bed, I was able to easily adjust the strap tightness so it wouldn’t shift too much during use. Cassie took the grinder for a ride first, using the insertable tentacle anally so it hit her prostate. She ended up really enjoying the firmness and texture of the grinder, telling me that it felt better designed for her anatomy than another grinder we got in the same shipment from Uncover Creations, Synstyl Grinder.
Cassie enjoyed having the sinking ship side of the grinder aimed towards her belly button, as it pressed into her perineum in a way that she found very stimulating. The pressure was enough for external prostate stimulation, which my wife enjoys a lot. She liked having a lot of lube with the external stimulator so that it felt like a smoother ride against the texture. Cassie wasn’t bothered by the grainy texture of the design, instead she enjoyed the way it stimulated her sphincter. Though she enjoyed the texture, Cassie didn’t do a lot of up and down riding of the grinder, she instead would insert it then grind against the external stimulator, letting it press into her.
My wife’s favorite way to enjoy the humpable sex toy was by pairing it with stimulation on the tip of her penis. She was able to achieve orgasm both with and without it, but she said that the combination of sensations sent her further over the edge faster. This worked well for her when paired with vibrators or if I stimulated her manually with my hand or mouth.
Me, on the other hand… Well…
I wasn’t a big fan of the Tentacle Grinder V. The tentacle’s tip is not quite aligned properly for g-spot and clitoral stimulation at the same time for my anatomy. Given where the strap holes are located, I expected a straight-ish, parallel line from the tip of the curve to the highest mound on the kraken’s tentacle that pulls the ship down, but instead there’s a slight angle that just doesn’t quite work for me if it’s strapped down. If it’s not strapped down, the angle isn’t as disruptive since I can slightly rotate either the toy or my body to align with the design.
Because of the skewed angle, I preferred having the sinking ship angled towards my backside, as the tentacle that rises from the water has a slight curve and that was the best way for the tip to put pressure against my g-spot while I was riding the grinder sex toy. This gave my anus some interesting stimulation, though the grainy texture wasn’t my favorite.
I’m glad that Cassie enjoys the texture and firmness, but the combination of grainy texture with 10A firmness is just not it for me. I used a lot of a thick, gel-like water based lube, far more than my normal amount, and even still, the texture was just too much internally. It’s one that I couldn’t get into externally either. I tried using the tentacle both before and after warm-ups, just to see if it made any sort of difference to me, and it didn’t.
The “medium” 10A firmness feels really firm to me. I have other toys in my collection in 10A that have barely, if ever, bothered me before, but the textures are all quite different than that of Tentacle Grinder V. I think that if we had selected a softer silicone, the texture would feel less overstimulating for my body and perhaps I may have enjoyed it more. I think it also would have felt more comfortable pressing against my anatomy externally.
After both Cassie and I took the Tentacle Grinder V for several rides, I asked her which grinder she preferred: this one, or The Maw, which is her favorite grinder in our collection. Cassie still prefers The Maw over the Tentacle Grinder V, but likes having a grinder with an insertable dildo that isn’t too long.
Pros:

Final Verdict on Uncover Creations Tentacle Grinder V
Though the off-center design of Uncover Creations Tentacle Grinder V wasn’t for me, I think I would have had a much better experience with a softer silicone. I’m glad that Cassie is enjoying the sex grinder so much, because I’d otherwise feel guilty about ordering a toy in a firmness that I suspected would not work for me. As a trans woman, my wife enjoyed the pressure against her perineum that provided external prostate stimulation while the tentacle was short enough that she felt she could do a “quick clean out” and still use without mess.
If you or your partner have a penis and enjoy external prostate stimulation, the 10A firmness is likely to work well for providing enough pressure to achieve orgasm. However, if grainy texture doesn’t sound like something that you’d enjoy in that level of firmness, I suggest going for the Super Soft 00-40 shore silicone. Softer silicone reduces the intensity of texture, but is still firm enough to give pressure where you want it.
For people who have a vulva, I’d highly suggest skipping over the 10A unless you already know that you can handle a grainy texture that is intense. I really do believe I would have enjoyed the Tentacle Grinder V a lot more if I’d selected a softer firmness.
