Xara Toys Swish Vibrator Review

FINALLY! something different, something new. Xara Toys has given us something exciting, the Swish vibrator, which I can only describe as a “wriggling” vibrator. They call it “thrust-wave”, but all I can think of is that this pretty lilac color vibrator is just wiggling around.

Xara Toys’ Swish vibrator may be something new and exciting, but we all know that new and exciting doesn’t always equate to good. So, let’s break it down, ya’ll. Let’s see if this vibrator is both good and new & exciting, shall we?

Meet Xara Toys Swish Vibrator

As you open the sleek black box of the Xara Toys packaging, you’re greeted by a lovely lilac vibrator with soft rippling ridges on the top and bottom sides of the shaft. The rounded head is smooth, and the shaft leads down to a flared handle with two buttons and a magnetic charging port. Made with body-safe silicone & ABS plastic, Swish is both a vibrator and a thruster (of sorts). I’ve never seen a thrusting vibrator move quite like Swish before, though. Imagine the way a breakdancer’s body moves as they do The Worm. That’s the way this vibrator moves!

Xara Toys calls it an “automatic thrusting wave vibrator” but I’m going to stand by my original statement and call it a “wriggling vibrator.” With dual motors inside, this vibrator has 10 functions of ThrustWave and 10 functions of vibration, each of which include 3 steady speeds and 7 patterns. The vibrations stick close to the lower shaft, while the wriggling moves upwards from the lower shaft up to the head. Speaking of the shaft, there is a tiny amount of squish along the shaft and head of the vibrator, but I really want to emphasize here that I do mean a tiny amount of squish.

Additionally, the device is waterproof, with an IPX6 rating. This means that it’s not rated for submersion for use in a bathtub, but it is safe to use in the shower. It’s also rechargeable. The dimensions of the vibrator are:

  • total length: 9.8″ / 24.89cm
  • insertable length: 5.4″ / 13.72cm
  • maximum insertable width: 1.3″ / 3.3cm

How to Use Xara Toys Swish

After you’ve allowed the vibrator to fully charge, grab your preferred water-based lubricant and insert the tip of the vibrator into your body. Once you’ve got the device inserted, press and hold the bottom power button on the handle to turn the device on. The wriggling and vibrations will begin immediately once turned on. The top button controls the vibrations, while the bottom button controls both power and the wriggling functions. A quick press of either button will begin to cycle through the 10 functions of the corresponding motor.

If you’re on your back, angling the handle downwards will direct the head of the vibrator towards your g-spot (head angled upwards towards your belly button, handle angled downwards towards your anus). I recommend exploring different positions with the vibrator to maximize your pleasure.

Despite the two button control, both motors will always run together. There is no separate motor power to use just the wriggles or just the vibrations without the other. Once you’re finished using the vibrator, press and hold the bottom button again to turn the device off.

How to Clean & Care for Xara Toys Swish

When you first get Swish, it’s important to fully charge the device before you use it. There will likely be an existing charge, but fight the temptation to start wriggling right away. Let the device charge up all the way first! Charing takes about 2 hours, and will provide about an hour worth of runtime. While the device is charging, the lights on the buttons will flash. Once charging is completely, the lights will stay on. If the lights flash quickly during use, this indicates that the battery is low and needs charging.

Thanks to the IPX6 rating, cleaning Swish by Xara Toys is really easy! You should always clean your sex toys before and after use, especially if you’re using them internally. Silicone has some natural static electricity to it, so hair, dust, lint, etc may cling to the surface. Using warm water and either your preferred toy cleaner or an unscented, antibacterial soap to wash the device and gently run a fingernail between the ripples before rinsing the device and allowing to fully dry before you store the vibrator. Xara Toys recommends allowing the vibrator to air dry and avoid leaving it in direct sunlight.

Lubricant choice is also really important with silicone sex toys. You shouldn’t use silicone lubricants with silicone vibrators, so avoid any silicone or silicone hybrid lubes. Instead, grab a water-based lube or a natural oil based lube. I like to apply lube to both my anatomy and the device.

A Note About Sharing Sex Toys

Included in the box is a small double-sided card user manual, which under the “Safety” section includes a sentence about not sharing the device with others for your health. Silicone is a body-safe, non-porous material. It can be fully sanitized, which means you can share this vibrator with your friends or lovers. For a deep cleaning, you can submerge the shaft end of the vibrator in a 1:10 bleach:water mixture. Do not submerge the handle, just the shaft! Leave it submerged for up to 10 minutes, then rinse with warm water.

With proper cleaning, there is no reason why you shouldn’t or can’t share Swish by Xara Toys with a friend or lover. You should never share toys made with rubber, jelly, TPE or other porous material with others. Only share properly cleaned toys that are made with body-safe silicone, glass, or stainless steel with others. If you suspect that a toy is not made with these materials, don’t share it no matter how well you’ve cleaned it!

However, proper cleaning methods are only part of the equation here. I don’t talk enough about it here in my reviews, but you should also get regularly tested for STIs. Anytime you have a barrier failure, such as a condom breaking or slipping off, get tested. If you participate in unprotected sex with multiple people, get tested. If you or your partner cheats, get tested. If a partner tests positive for a STI, get tested. If you share needles, get tested. It’s the responsible thing to do, both to take care of yourself and take care of those you participate in sex with.

I’m not a doctor, but I am a porn performer and when I am actively filming porn with anyone, I get tested. In fact, in the US, studio porn performers are supposed to get tested every 2 weeks. No clear test within the last 2 weeks = no filming porn. Perhaps I’ll expand on testing procedures in the future, but just know that most porn performers are getting tested with far more regularity than your average person.

Wriggling Around with Swish by Xara Toys

After seeing the video of Xara Toys’ Swish wriggling around on Peepshow Toys’ website, I felt a mixture of intrigue and amusement. I’d never seen a vibrator move like that before and I tried to imagine what it would feel like. Thankfully, I didn’t have to wait long! A box full of Xara Toys arrived several days later and I immediately pulled this one out to show my wife the wriggles of the device. Seeing the video was one thing, but feeling the wriggles in my hand was another. It was wild! I charged this vibrator up first, though it took a couple more days before I tried it, thanks to a short lived cold.

Once I was able to start testing the vibrator out, I was not disappointed. Much the opposite, actually. Instead, my body’s natural reaction was something along the lines of “oh shit, oh fuck, oh my god, I think I’m cumming!” My head felt like it was ready to explode in the best way possible. Do you ever have those orgasms that are just so good that you lose the ability to see for a moment? When the world either goes black or white and nothing else exists in that moment except the pleasure rippling through your body?

Yea. That. Nothing else mattered as my body erupted in pleasure.

I’ll admit that on its own, that was not my body’s reaction to Swish. Only when paired with an external vibrator did I really begin to explode with euphoria. Two vibrators working together to drive myself crazy was peak pleasure performance, and I loved it. I loved it so much that even after I finished testing the device for writing this review, I continued to reach for Swish. I wanted more!

My preferred way to use Swish was when I paired the device with a bullet vibrator. The slight tip between the handle and the shaft isn’t quite long enough to reach my clitoris, and while I am lucky that I can orgasm from penetration alone, it is still much easier when I’ve got both internal & external stimulation. The vibrations from Swish were more focused around my opening. They’re nice, but I didn’t really feel that they were strong enough or necessary to my pleasure with the wriggling vibrator. I’m sure they helped, but on the lowest setting, I just didn’t even recognize they were going. I felt them more on the middle and high steady speeds, though they weren’t where I really wanted them (on my clit).

I was able to use Swish by Xara Toys as a hands-free vibrator, thanks to the wide handle and my thick thighs. My thighs are fat enough that I could insert the vibrator and use my thighs to keep it at the angle that I got the most g-spot stimulation from. For me, this was easiest to achieve when I was lying on my back. Keeping it at the right angle when I’m lying on my front is somehow slightly more challenging, though I really enjoyed using it despite the less consistent g-spot stimulation.

The handle of the vibrator is pretty girthy, which made it really comfortable to hold when I used the vibrator to hand pump it into myself, like a dildo. The most difficult or uncomfortable part was just reaching past my belly with my short arms to thrust it. I mainly tried this when the vibrator ran out of charge mid-use and I wasn’t done yet. Eventually though, I just gave up and left it inserted while using a vibrator on my clit to get off. As a dildo, having a handle is really helpful, especially as a fat person. The handle adds a level of accessibility to the device.

The ripples on the shaft do provide stimulation, though they’re soft enough that I never really felt overstimulated during use. Whether I was thrusting the vibrator into myself, leaving it alone while the ThrustWave movement did its thing, or if my wife was thrusting it into me, the ripples felt good! I typically don’t love horizontal texture like this, so the softness of the silicone and the slight squish really made a big difference for me.

Swish by Xara Toys has another feature that typically I’m not a fan of: patterns. I think if I were to compare all my vibrator reviews, the one thing they’d have in common is “I’d rather have more steady speeds instead of patterns.” Swish, however, is not your typical vibrator. There are patterns to the ThrustWave wriggling motion! Not all of them were great, but I found myself really enjoying the variations of wriggling just as much as the three steady speeds. The first pattern and the last pattern are my two favorite!

Pros:

  • unique ThrustWave movement isn’t something I’ve seen from a vibrator before
  • body-safe silicone with ABS plastic on the backside of handle
  • 10 functions for each motor: 3 steady speeds & 7 patterns
  • rechargeable
  • waterproof non-submersible
  • comfortable to hold
  • thick handle may allow those with thick thighs to use hands-free
  • good for g-spot or a-spot stimulation
  • anal safe-ish

Cons:

  • I’d love more than 3 steady speeds of vibration & less patterns
  • the slight tip between the handle and shaft isn’t enough for clitoral stimulation

Final Thoughts on Xara Swish

I’m so happy to see a vibrator with a unique movement to it. The few cons that I may have about Swish by Xara Toys are easily outweighed by the pros, for me. I keep reaching for the vibrator even when I’m masturbating for pleasure rather than to test out toys, which isn’t always the case with toys I review. The gentle ripples on the shaft are delicious without becoming too much, too quick. Even when the vibrator’s battery died during use, I still was able to use it to thrust into myself thanks to the girthy handle.

And for only $59.99?! I’m not even kidding! This vibrator is a really affordable option for anyone looking for something different. Swish is not your average thrusting vibrator, and that’s a great thing. I would recommend this vibrator for anyone who likes thrusting dildos, is tired of the same ol’ thing, or think that it sounds like fun (because it is).
