I’m all about unique shapes and designs when it comes to sex toys, and Uncover Creations did not let me down with this one! I got my hands on The Sea Horse, a dildo that is not inspired by seahorse as we know them. Instead, the model was inspired by the mythological Hippocampus.
If you’re like me and only knew about the part of the brain called the Hippocampus, don’t worry – that’s where my mind went first too! In case you’d like a very quick mythology lesson: the hippocampus is a creature that Poseidon’s chariot is drawn by in Greek mythology. Hippocampi are depicted as having the upper body of a horse, with the lower body of a fish. Uncover Creations did a fun job translating that into a dildo.
Freaky, right? Freaky hot is more like it!
Meet the Sea Horse
Available in three sizes, small, medium, and large, the Sea Horse dildo by Uncover Creations is a pretty unique toy. Sure, we’ve all seen equine dildos – heck, I even reviewed an equine dildo, the Equiknot, made by Uncover Creations not that long ago! But this equine-ish dildo has texture that I haven’t seen anywhere else. There are ridges, scales, a bulbous & angled head, and a medial ring. The pictures on Uncover Creations’ website don’t even fully do this design justice!
Prior to its arrival, I had a sneaking suspicion that Uncover Creation’s Sea Horse dildo was going to be a dildo that both Cassie and I could enjoy, and ordered a size that I hoped either of us could use with comfort and pleasure. I selected a size medium, with medium firmness in a marble pour with Neon Green and Electric Blue.
Uncover Creations’ medium firmness is 10A on the shore hardness scale, and I would consider this a fairly firm dildo with some squish, but not by much. If you haven’t already, I recommend taking a look at Uncover Creations’ Firmness Guide on their site so you can best visualize their firmness levels!
The medium size has the following measurements:
- Total length: 9.4″/24cm
- Insertable length: 8.3″/21cm
- Shaft circumference: 5.7″/14.5cm
- Tip circumference: 5.6″/14.2cm
- Base circumference: 10.7″/27.2cm
The Sea Horse has a few different customization options available: size, firmness, color style, base, and accessories. The base options give customers the choice between a flat base and a vac-u-lock hole (I got a flat base). The accessory options are add a cum tube, add a double suction cup, or add a suction cup mount. Uncover Creations does occasionally have ready made inventory available for purchase, however I did not see a ready made Sea Horse dildo on the page any of the times I checked. If you want to order a Sea Horse, your best option is to go for a custom dildo.
How to Care for Silicone Toys
It’s always a good idea to take proper care of your silicone toys, like the Sea Horse dildo. Uncover Creations’ toys are compatible with water, silicone and oil-based lubricants. Because of the conflicting information about silicone lubricants with silicone toys, their website states that if your toy develops a fault due to use with silicone lubes, they’ll arrange for a replacement, free of charge. Personally, I’ve only used Sea Horse with water-based lubes!
Cleaning is also important for taking care of your custom dildos! It’s recommended to wash your toy before and after use, with unscented soap and warm water. If you are using a silicone-based lubricant, you may need to do a deeper clean! For a deeper clean, you can boil your toy in water for a few minutes, soak in a 10% bleach solution (don’t boil bleach), or run it through the dishwasher on the sanitize setting without detergent.
Once your toy is fully dry, do not store your toy with non-silicone toys, such as PVC, TPE, jelly, etc. Uncover Creations recommends storing your toys in an air-tight plastic box.
Using Uncover Creations Sea Horse Dildo
Minutes before the first time Cassie tried The Sea Horse by Uncover Creations, she cracked a joke about it being a “perfectly cylindrical dick,” not realizing that there was texture on the dildo, having only seen me holding it from several feet away. So when I slid the dildo into her butt, she was pretty surprised! There’s not a lot of texture, and it is kind of hard to see depending on the pour & lighting & all that, but the texture is there and it’s really stimulating.
I think that the texture is so unassuming because it’s hard to see the scales in the pictures on Uncover Creations’ website, which is such a shame because the texture on this is really, really good. Neither Cassie nor I think it’s overstimulating, as it is a fairly gentle texture, but I do think that the texture sneaks up on you. For me, I didn’t expect the texture before ordering it, so it came as a shock to me (in a great way). For anyone worried about the scales, they aren’t smooth, but they’re not very pronounced either – they’re just there providing minimal texture.
After wracking my brain about how to describe the texture, this is the best way I’ve come up with to explain it: the sides of the dildo have a number of very shallow “U” shaped ridges, that connect the dorsal vein on top to the vein on the bottom. Instead of a “normal” vein on the underside of the shaft, the Sea Horse has sort of long, vertical “8” shapes. I can only hope my photos do the texture justice, as I don’t know that I’m doing a great job of explaining it!
Since I did get a size that both Cassie and I can enjoy, I did get the chance to use Sea Horse in a strap-on harness as well as hand-pumping it. When strap-on topping with it, I opted for one of my RodeoH harnesses – an “out of print” Ocean Quest print brief that has a 1.75″ O-ring. I did have to stretch the O-ring a bit to accommodate the dildo, as the base of the shaft is a bit wider than that specific o-ring size. But it did work! And, more importantly, the base shape was quite comfortable for strapping on! For hand-pumping, the base was comfortable to hold, even with grip issues in my hand.
When I tried the Sea Horse dildo, I was able to take about 3/4 of the shaft. It’s a long dildo, and I tend to struggle taking longer toys, like this one, all the way. My favorite part is the bulbous head. It feels so good hitting my g-spot and it doesn’t even matter if it’s upside-down or sideways, because the shape of the head is just that good.
If you remember from my review of the Equiknot by Uncover Creations, there was an issue with the 3D printing lines being visible on the dildo. Thankfully, that is not at all the case with Sea Horse. I did a pretty close examination in the best lighting I could (sunlight and studio light), and did not find any 3D printing lines! Woot!
The only thing I regret in ordering Sea Horse is that I ordered Neon Green, which is UV light reactive, instead of Glow Green, which is glow in the dark. Someone doesn’t have a UV light (it’s me, I don’t have one)! I do love the suggestion from Uncover Creations of doing a marble pour with a UV reactive color and a non-neon color, as the combination I selected looks so cool. I really enjoy shimmers, so the combination of the shimmery Electric Blue with the non-shimmery Neon Green makes for a really pretty pour, even if I made a user error mistake while ordering.
Pros:

Final Thoughts on Sea Horse
Both Cassie and I have really enjoyed using the Sea Horse dildo by Uncover Creations, her anally, me vaginally. It’s well designed dildo, and I think the gentle scales and ridges are perfect for someone who likes some texture, but not too much. The bulbous head really does it for me, while my wife loves both the head and the medial ring. Even without a UV light, the marble Electric Blue and Neon Green look gorgeous together.
I’d recommend the Sea Horse dildo to anyone who likes equine themed fantasy dildos and wants something with a bit more of a rounded head rather than just a flared head or flat head. The texture may not suffice for those who seek a lot of texture with their toys, while it may be more texture than some are expecting when ordering.
Remember that when ordering a custom sex toy like Sea Horse to pay close attention to sizing! I find it helpful to have a dildo I use regularly on my desk with the measurements of that toy pulled up in one tab and the sizing for a toy I’m interested in pulled up in a separate window so that I can compare side by side.
