Twilight Meadow Creations Sir Gawain Fisting Dildo Review   New!

As if last week’s review of a totally new-to-me type of toy wasn’t enough, now this week’s review is another one! This time, I’ve got Sir Gawain the Gallant Knight by Swedish indie toy company, Twilight Meadow Creations. Sir Gawain is my very first fist shaped dildo!

Twilight Meadow Creations is a really cool queer & trans owned indie toy maker, and you may remember them from my reviews of Näcken, Bjarkan, and/or Raido. I’m a big fan of their work, so perhaps it’ll come as no surprise that I’m very pleased with my purchase of Sir Gawain.

I’m not the only one either! Sir Gawain was nominated for “Best Sex Toy” at the 2024 AltPorn Awards and was the winner of “Fan Favorite Fantasy TOy” at the 2024 Bazowie Awards. It’s a really good toy, and I’m glad to see it getting the recognition it deserves.

Get to Know Sir Gawain the Gallant Knight

When I first laid eyes on Twilight Meadow Creations’ hand-shaped dildo, Sir Gawain the Gallant Knight, I thought it was a beautiful model. The heavily textured dildo resembles a armored hand and wrist, with the thumb and pinky sort of bent inwards, the perfect insertion position when fisting. The texture runs tip to base, with horizontal ridges as the primary texture. There is some vertical texture, but it’s overshadowed by the horizontal texture of the armor. The design is realistic, in the way that the armor looks realistic. The design was sculpted by Sionidae.

Twilight Meadow Creations, or TMC, offers 4 sizes of Sir Gawain, and I’d urge you to be very careful when picking out the size you’d like. I got a size small, as the medium’s maximum circumference is right on my cusp of comfort. There’s a pretty sizable difference between each size, with an inch difference of max circumference between mini and small, over an inch between small and medium, and a three inch difference between medium and large. My size small Sir Gawain is a medium firmness, shore 00-50, and has the following dimensions:

How to Care for TMC’s Sir Gawain Fantasy Dildo

Caring for your silicone fantasy sex toys, like Twilight Meadow Creations’ Sir Gawain, is overall pretty easy. You should only use water or oil-based lubricants, as silicone and hybrid lubes can damage the surface of your toy. Oil lubes can leave a residue on silicone, so you may need to do a deep clean more regularly with them, or you can use a dish soap that cuts through grease and oil to get the residue fully off.

Because soft silicone can attract dust and lint, you should wash your toys both before and after use. All you need is warm water and an unscented, antibacterial soap! There is a lot of texture on Sir Gawain though, so you may want to use a small soft toothbrush to get in all the nooks and crannies. If you do find yourself needing to do a deep clean of Sir Gawain, you can also boil it in water for 10 minutes, making sure the toy is not resting against the sides or bottom of the pot, or you can soak in a 10% bleach solution for 10 minutes then wash with soap and water. Just remember: do not boil bleach!

After washing your toy, you can allow it to air dry before storing it. You can store it with the included cotton storage bag that TMC includes, which I recommend if you’re storing it in a bin or drawer. Mine sits on a display shelf. You should avoid abrasive surfaces, as well as storing separately from any toys made with non-platinum cured silicone, glass, or stainless steel. Avoid storing platinum cure silicone with jelly, PVC, vinyl, TPE, and other porous materials, as they cause melting, discoloration, or other damages.

My Knight in Shining Armor, Sir Gawain

I’ve never owned a fisting dildo before, and honestly, I never really thought about buying one until I saw a specific pour on Twilight Meadow Creations’ Sir Gawain. The pour sold me, though I’ll admit that I would not want this pour on any other model I’ve seen (so far). When it comes to fantasy dildos, I don’t mind letting my aesthetics guide me into purchasing, as long as the model, size and firmness are right for me.

And really, can you blame me? This Sir Gawain looks like a copper statue that people have only touched the hand for years. And since the design is that of an armored glove, it’s the perfect pour. It’s truly a beautiful work of art, and I love how well it ties into TMC’s branding (I am a sucker for good branding).

The one downside about the pour is that it disguises some of the texture, making it look less textured than the model actually is. It’s not directly a problem, because I was pretty familiar with the model prior from pictures and videos I’ve seen. However, my wife was not as familiar, so when she used the fantasy dildo on me, she was very enthusiastic in her thrusts, going from insertion to fast thrusts far too quickly. I had to ask her to slow down because the texture was overstimulating with fast strokes and it just wasn’t pleasurable for me.

When Cassie used Sir Gawain the Gallant Knight on me, she made note of which position gave her the best reactions from me. According to Cassie, I seemingly enjoyed the thumb facing upwards to my belly button the most, followed by palm up, with palm down and pinky finger up as the two directions that I didn’t seem to enjoy as much.

Honestly, I didn’t realize just how different each direction would feel in use. I’ve never been fisted before and Sir Gawain is my very first fist shaped dildo! I’ve put my fists inside of people, but as someone who hasn’t always had interest in stretching, it’s just not ever made my “want to try” list.

But, I’m glad that I have tried a fist dildo. Sir Gawain is really intense for stroking, so much so that I can confidently tell you that it’s too much for me to want to even try taking it in a strap-on. The key to my pleasure with Sir Gawain was short and/or slow strokes. They could be hard or soft, but I just couldn’t handle long or fast strokes. The texture was too much for me!

As I used Sir Gawain on my own, my experience was quite different from having the fist used on me. The narrow tip made insertion really easy, and I preferred inserting it palm up towards my navel, as the horizontal texture felt somewhat less intense when it was facing away from my belly button. With the palm facing down, I needed to angle the tip upwards and the base down for the same ease of insertion, which is a struggle for me with my short arms & big belly combo.

I don’t think I’ve ever had a dildo that I have such a strong preference about how it is inserted or used on me as I have with Sir Gawain. This is a new feeling for me, and one I never even considered.

Using Sir Gawain on myself wasn’t that difference of an experience, though I enjoyed each direction a lot more with the dildo inserted while I used a bullet vibrator on myself externally. The only direction that just never quite hit for me was with the pinky towards my belly button. The other three directions all helped me achieve orgasm and provided a really pleasurable feeling of fullness.

The base itself was pretty comfortable for me to hold, though I only tested it on myself. The base of the size small fit into my palm easily, though I preferred to hold it slightly above my palm so my fingers could wrap around it more comfortably. The size small is a bit smaller than what Cassie likes, so I haven’t had an opportunity to use the dildo on her and can’t speak to the comfort of the base while hand pumping it into someone else.

Both before and after having Cassie use Sir Gawain on me, I’d tested the dildo on myself quite a bit. Despite never having much interest in being fisted, I have to admit that I really enjoyed having the small hand inside of me. I really preferred using this one on myself over having Cassie use it on me, though. This isn’t always the case, as I generally really enjoy having partners use dildos on me, especially while I’m receiving oral sex. I think the textures just became too overstimulating when the fist shaped dildo was thrust in and out of me. Even when I controlled the thrusting with a double-sided suction cup and my ergonomic handle, the texture was a lot to handle so I often just… didn’t.

My favorite way to use Sir Gawain was cock warming, with the base nestled snuggly between my thick thighs. This also allowed me some minor movement of the dildo, as I could rock my hips up and down or back and forth, giving little tiny short strokes of the dildo.

My Final Thoughts on Twilight Meadow Creations’ Sir Gawain

I really enjoyed Sir Gawain the Gallant Knight by Twilight Meadow Creations, but I’ll admit that this probably wasn’t the best model to pick for my first fisting toy. Letting aesthetics guide me isn’t the best decision, but I have no regrets. I’m glad that I went for the size small over the medium, as I don’t think I’d be able to handle the texture at a larger size. I’m also very happy with the shore 00-50 silicone, as there’s enough squish that the texture was manageable for me as long as the dildo wasn’t thrust too fast or too hard. I’m really pleased with my purchase, and I’m so happy to have Sir Gawain sitting front and center on one of my toy display shelves.

I would recommend Sir Gawain the Gallant to anyone who enjoys being fisted and anyone who enjoys heavily textured toys. The texture is heavy enough that this isn’t a fantasy dildo that I’d recommend to newer users, though. I think the softer firmnesses, like extra soft 00-20 or soft 00-30, may be better for those who are newer to heavily textured toys, while 00-50 and A10 are better suited for those who do have experience with texture.
