Ya know what brand I’ve spent years buying from but isn’t properly reflected here on my site? Tantus. And honestly, I don’t know why that is. Tantus makes really good quality silicone toys, like the star of today’s review: Fido. I know that my only other review of a Tantus product isn’t particularly favorable, but I’ve had a number of their sex toys over the years. I think Tantus Curve was even one of my very first dildos!
When my wife and I started planning our international move, we had the miserable job of downsizing our sex toy collection. So much had to go, and I got rid of several dildos from Tantus, RIP to my Curve, The Vamp, Echo, Silk and Strapless Strap On Classic, but Fido is one that stayed in our collection. Hopefully, by the time you’re done reading this review, you’ll understand why!

Meet Fido by Tantus
Talk about knotty! Tantus’s Fido is a semi-fantasy dildo that features a big ol’ knot mid-shaft, with ribbing on the upper shaft between the knot and head. One of the unique aspects of Fido’s design is that below the knot is a long stem, something that is oddly rare to find with fantasy dildos. There’s about 2.25″ / 5.715cm of length between the knot and the base of the dildo, which allows for users to have a feeling of the dildo being “locked in,” or some extra length for thrusting with the knot inserted.
Made with body safe silicone, Fido is considered an anal dildo that is available in matte ruby red or black. The dildo can be used vaginally, and we’ll get to that later in this review. Tantus also only offers one firmness of Fido, though it’s not specified exactly what that firmness is. I’d guess slightly above a 10A, after squeezing some other 10A firm toys in my collection. Fido is only available in one size, and has the following dimensions:
- Total length: 10″ / 25.4cm
- Insertable length: 9″ / 22.86cm
- Tip diameter: 1.8″ / 4.572cm
- Ribbed shaft diameter: 1.6″ / 4.064cm
- Mid-knot diameter: 2.5″ / 6.35cm
- Bottom shaft diameter: 1.3″ / 3.302cm
- Base diameter: 2.8″ / 7.112cm
- Weight: 15oz / 425g

Care Instructions for Tantus Fido
Taking care of Tantus sex toys, like Fido, is really easy thanks to the body safe silicone they use to make toys. Since Fido does not have a motor, it’s even easier to clean! Grab an unscented, anti-bacterial soap and give the dildo a thorough wash with warm water. The ribbing on the top part of the shaft isn’t too deep, but if you notice that you’re seeing dried lube even after washing the dildo, use a soft toothbrush to get between the grooves when washing. You can also use a toy cleaner, if you prefer that over dish soap or hand soap.
For a deeper clean, Tantus recommends boiling water and submerging their dildos for 2 minutes making sure the toy is completely covered with water and that the toy is not resting against the sides or bottom of the pot, as this can causing melting. You can also run the dildo thru the dishwasher on a sanitize setting, without soap or detergent.
Using the right lubricant is also an important part of caring for your Tantus dildos! They recommend using water-based or oil-based lubes. Tantus also shares that if you’re using condoms with their toys, make sure you’re using unlubricated condoms, as many condoms use silicone lube, which can damage your toys.

My Experiences with Tantus Fido
Shortly after Cassie and I moved in together, she purchased Fido from Tantus, wanting to try a knotted dildo. It was her very first knot, and she was really eager to try it out. Though we didn’t get her knotted the first time I used the dildo on her, we did have a lot of fun stretching her to take the knot the next attempt. I can still picture her face as I slowly pushed the knot into her ass until it was fully inserted!
As a first fantasy dildo with a knot, Fido is a great gateway dildo into knots. The texture above the shaft is plentiful, thanks to the ribbing creating peaks and valleys that can be felt. Even before getting the knot inserted into my wife’s butt, the texture of the upper shaft was enough that she begs me to fuck her with just that part until she feels properly warmed up and ready to take the thick knot.
“I like the placement of the knot higher up the shaft than some, because it gives me that feeling of fullness inside, rather than a stretching sensation then the base, like some knot placements. The ribbing is really nice, but it also slows me down because it can get overstimulating if thrusts are too quick,” according to Cassie.

When using the XL dildo on my wife, rather than holding onto the base of the dildo, I preferred to grip the lower part of the shaft. I felt that it gave me more control as I moved the dildo in and out of her, at least until she reached the knot. Once the knot was inside of her, I did switch to holding the base. The base is a bit thin for me to comfortably grip without it irritating my nerve damage
Though Fido is harness compatible, I can’t recall ever using it in a harness to top my wife or anyone else. I think with this particular dildo, it was also my first time topping someone with such a large knot, and I hadn’t quite honed my strap-on skills and control at the time. Since getting Fido and honing my topping skills, I’ve used a few different knotted dildos while topping, though Fido definitely has the most dramatic knot of the toys in our collection.
To use with a strap-on harness, Tantus recommends squeezing the sides of the base to slide it into an o-ring, which I can confirm does work. I found that getting the base thru the o-ring then attaching the fasteners was easier than trying to get the o-ring onto the dildo with the fasteners attached.

My first time using Fido by Tantus was while preparing for a scene I was planning with Nikki Sequoia. We wanted to do something for Halloween/Spooky Season, and decided to film a werewolf transformation sex scene. At the time, I had done very little stretching and knew that if I wanted to take the dildo on camera, I needed to prepare. Those first few gos with Fido weren’t particularly productive, as I wasn’t able to take the knot no matter how hard I tried. I was determined to do it and showed up at Nikki’s house with the dildo, a big ol’ bottle of lube, and a “I am going to do this!” mindset.
It ended up that Nikki and I did our best, though our best was not ideal. Neither of us could knot ourselves or each other, on camera or off. For me, the texture on the upper part of the shaft was just too much to handle at the time, and I’d quickly get overstimulated especially with fast or rough thrusts. Since I was struggling to take Fido, Nikki and I modified our plans to just me fucking her with the dildo. She did manage to partially get Fido’s knot inserted, but ended up not able to take the whole knot. Either way, the scene came out really hot and fun!
Fast forward several years, and now here I am living on the opposite side of the globe from my friend and filming buddy. Out of curiosity, I decided to try Fido again. Sure, he wasn’t the best for me several years ago, but a lot has changed since then. I’ve started stretching my pussy more, I’ve started taking bigger and thicker insertions from time to time. I’ve taken some knots, though in retrospect, three of the four other knotted dildos are significantly smaller than Fido. Despite the size differences, I hoped that I could still do it.

Dear readers, this is the part where I confess that I just couldn’t freaking do it. I couldn’t knot myself with Fido. I only tried vaginally, as I’m still very new to anal penetration on myself, and I just couldn’t get it. Again, I got hung up on the textured ribbing. The texture isn’t that deep, but it was just too much for me to thrust in and out of myself repeatedly. If I left the dildo partially inserted, without thrusting it, I was fine. The texture didn’t overstimulate me, and I could just enjoy squeezing my kegals with the dildo sticking half out of my body and/or use a vibrator externally.
Ok, So Why Keep Fido?
Though Fido by Tantus wasn’t the knotted dildo for me, this dildo has gotten a lot of use over the years. It’s not reached for quite as frequently as it used to, but I think Fido has become a bit of a comfort dildo for Cassie. She grabs it when it’s been a while since she took a knot and wants to warm up a bit prior to sex. I think it’s also one of the dildos that she just has some nostalgia for, it being her first knot. Her sex toy “to keep” box was not as big as mine, so it also just worked in her favor to have fewer sex toys than me.
Pros:
- despite the size, Fido is a good first knot dildo for those who can take the dimensions
- made with body safe silicone in the US
- harness compatible
- anal safe
- long stem below the knot gives room for continued thrusting and/or a “locked in” feeling
- firmness is great for anal penetration
Cons:
- only one size and one firmness available, so it’s not for everyone
- hair, dust, lint, etc tend to stick to the surface of soft silicone
- ribbing on the top part of shaft can get overstimulating if used too quickly
- Tantus uses a “mainstream” soft silicone, which is still more firm than most dildos from indie toy companies

Final Thoughts on Tantus Fido
Fido by Tantus is a big, but great, entry into the realm of knotted fantasy dildos, though it’s not quite a fantasy dildo itself. The head is designed for easy entry, but the ribbing and knot take this dildo into “advanced users” territory. Those who regularly use fantasy dildos may find Fido lacking in some areas, such as no veins or testicles – little details that take a toy like Fido and make it into a fantasy dildo like Lycan. As someone who has purchased Tantus sex toys for years, Fido has the same level of quality that I know to expect from the brand.
If you’re new to sex toys, Fido is not the dildo for you, however if you’re someone who likes firm toys, likes ribbing, and/or wants to try your very first knot, I think Tantus Fido is a great first knot dildo, assuming the dimensions are within your range to take. Expect a delicious feeling of fullness that can continue moving inside of you, should you choose. And remember to take things slow, then work up to going faster once your body is comfortable and warmed up!
