Paladin Pleasure Sculptors Kyno Grinder Review   New!

When I first collaborated with Paladin Pleasure Sculptors, they only had one true grinder available, Calypso, and two other toys that they recommended could be used as sex grinders, Alara and Illex. A few months after my grinder guide was published, the indie toy brand released another grinder: Kyno.

And whooo boy, Kyno is gorgeous. The design caught my eye, as I’ve spent many nights using a partner’s penis to hump and grind against externally before allowing them entry inside me. Something about teasing a cock like that just really gets me going, and now I have the ability to play like that any time, with or without a partner, with or without a penis of their own.

Meet Kyno by PPSculptors

Kyno’s design depicts a realistic human penis surrounded by what I believe are clothes or some sort of cushion, tied down by thin ropes that hold it in place. The penis is raised up slightly, giving users with labia the ability to grind against it comfortably and with direct clitoral contact (yes, even those of us who have meaty or large labia). Unlike the other grinders made by Paladin Pleasure Sculptors, Kyno also features 1″ / 2.54cm holes for straps, which would allow users to strap the sex grinder down to a chair, a pillow, a thigh, or other surface they wish to grind against. The model does not come with straps, so you’ll need to source straps on your own.

The sculpt was made by Deviant Gardens, a popular 3D sculptor whose designs are used not only by PPSculptors, but also Wandering Bard Toys, Fantasy Grove, and Uncover Creations, just to name a few. The design has some texture, though I’d consider on the low end of the texture spectrum. Kyno’s dimensions are:

  • Length: 7.5″ / 19.05cm
  • Usable Length: 5.75″ / 14.605cm
  • Width: 4″ / 10.16cm
  • Maximum Mound Height: 1.54″ / 4cm

Like the rest of Paladin Pleasure Sculptors’ offerings, Kyno is only available in inventory drops, which occur every other Saturday at 2pm CST. PPSculptors has recently started offering MTO toys, however the models are limited (and rotate out), and so far I haven’t seen Kyno offered as an MTO. I can only hope that in the future, Kyno is one of the models they select for MTO offerings!

How to Care for Kyno by Paladin Pleasure Sculptors

One of the things I love about silicone sex toys from indie toy companies, like Paladin Pleasure Sculptors, is how easy they are to clean. With a soft toothbrush, an antibacterial soap that does not contain silicone, and some warm water, give Kyno a quick clean as you run the toothbrush through the nooks & crannies! If you need to give Kyno a deeper clean, you can remove the straps and run in through the dishwasher on the sanitize setting without detergent, or boil it in water for a few minutes, or soak it in a 10% bleach/90% water mixture (do not boil bleach).

With grinders, I highly recommend using plenty of water based lube for a smoother ride! Apply lube to your anatomy and the grinder itself before use.

Though Kyno is an external use only sex toy, you should still at least give it a rinse before use to get rid of dust, dirt, hair, lint, etc that may be stuck to the surface. Followed by a thorough wash after use.

How to Use Kyno (and Other Grinder Sex Toys)

Sex grinders or grind pads, or whatever you prefer to call them, are a great sex toy for couples, groups, and solo play. I love them because they’re a fun tool for foreplay and sex, but I can also enjoy them on my own! My favorite way to use grinders is by strapping them onto someone’s thigh for a enhanced thigh humping sesh, whether that’s my own thigh for my wife or partner to grind against or on someone else’s thigh for me to hump. This is fantastic in both couple or group scenes, and there’s nothing quite as hot as watching your lover desperately hump your thigh while your hands stimulate them in other ways.

When it comes to solo use, there are a number of ways to enjoy grinders:

  • ride it on on a pillow or soft toy mount, such as Liberator BonBon
  • sitting on a chair or stool
  • manually rubbing it against your anatomy while lying down, standing up, or other position (if needed, consider a double sided suction cup and an ergonomic handle to make this easier and more comfortable)
  • with a wand vibrator or bullet vibrator underneath (best when riding or sitting on a chair or lying down with your back propped up)

Much like PPSculptors Kyno, not all grinders have straps, and believe it or not, that’s ok! Straps can help keep a grinder more securely placed, however the “sticky” surface of soft silicone often has enough grip to keep it from shifting beneath you. In my experience, it’s more likely that the material the grinder is resting on is what actually shifts. More on that coming ahead!

I’ve seen a couple complaints about silicone grinders on social media, specifically in regards to warming up silicone. Silicone is not as good at retaining heat as glass or stainless steel dildos, and with grinders especially, heat helps for better stimulation. The cheap, but messy, option is to soak a grinder in warm water prior to use. The less expensive option is to place it in a bucket style towel warmer. These aren’t the cheapest, but you can find them for less than $100/€100 online, and as an added bonus, now you have a towel warmer (warm fresh towels when getting out of the shower in cool climates makes me feel like royalty, and I just have a rack style one).

My Experiences with PPSculptors Kyno

I’m not typically one to go for matching toys or toys with a specific color theme, but when PPSculptors offered to send me Kyno when sending me the dildo that I designed, I asked for a matching coloration. The color combination was my wife’s idea after she saw a similar pour style but with blue as the base color beneath the white wash. The pour was beautiful on Celia and I appreciate that Kyno matches it. The wash style pour really highlights the details of Deviant Gardens’ design.

Embarrassingly, Kyno sat untouched for a while. It was on display, but the grinder didn’t get put to work for well over two months. Partially because it didn’t come with straps and partially because after publishing my grinder guide, I needed a break from grinders. Realistically though, I never needed straps with Kyno. The weight of my body is enough and the silicone is sticky/grippy enough that the grinder didn’t shift much beneath me during use. More often than not, it was the material that the silicone was pressed against that shifted more… primarily, I found that it was a case of a pillowcase and/or sex blanket shifting.

Even when Kyno was resting on a thigh, it didn’t shift much, and what little shift I did experience was ultimately putting it into a more comfortable spot to hump and grind against. I will warn you though that if you get lube on the bottom, depending on the lube, there may be enough glide to cause the grind pad to move. I’d suggest placing the grinder on your thigh first, then applying lube to the grindable surface.

I happened to have two extra sets of grinder straps, leftover from the grinders that Odyssey Toys and Godemiche included when they sent over packages for my guide to grinders. So, shoutout to them for including more than a single set of straps! If you need to buy straps for Kyno, you can purchase straps with buckles from Uncover Creations or you’ll want to look for 1″ / 2.54cm wide polypropylene straps and plastic buckles with side release. You may be able to find these at your local craft store or hardware store, or you can always find them online!

When I first saw Paladin Pleasure Sculptors Kyno, I was a little worried that there wasn’t enough of a mound for me to grind against. If there isn’t enough of a mound, grinders don’t always reach my clitoris, as I’ve got meaty labia that I have to spread open. Grinders that are too flat end up only stimulating my labia, which is nice, but I’ve often got pubic hair which makes that sensation less pleasurable and more pull-y. Thankfully, Kyno has enough height to the design that I was able to comfortably guide it between my labia for direct clitoral stimulation!

I don’t know what it is about grinders, but my favorite time to use Kyno was while writing other toy reviews or erotica. With my legs spread around the legs of my chair, my pelvis was tilted in such a way that my clit was making direct contact with the grinder, and oh my gosh was it a delight. I really liked to add a bullet vibe under the grinder while doing this, which also benefitted my anatomy by allowing me to enjoy even the head of the penis against my clit.

Texture wise, the ropes that hold down the penis do provide some extra stimulation that the shape of the penis alone would not do. I’m glad that the ropes are there, as without them, I don’t know that Kyno would have enough texture for me. I’ve realized that I don’t enjoy smooth textures when it comes to clitoral grinders. Textures are what make sex grinders stimulating enough for me to achieve orgasm. Even with grinders that have bullet vibe holes or can attach to wand vibrators, I still want at least some texture!

Because of the minimal texture on Kyno, I often ended up positioning myself so my clit would move between the four ropes towards the tip of the penis. I like the texture much more on my labia and clitoris than I did on my perineum, but that’s not really an area I get a lot of pleasure from anyway. Though the texture on Kyno is minimal, I did enjoy it! It was easiest for me to achieve orgasm when using it with a vibrator as well, though. Without a vibe, I had to hump and grind a lot more to get there.

At the time of writing this, Cassie has not yet taken Kyno for a ride. Once she’s had a chance to do so, I’ll update this with her experiences. For penis having people, like Cassie, Kyno would be ideally placed against the perineum (between your butthole and your ballsack). This, in theory, will give external p-spot stimulation that would pair well with a butt plug, dildo, or anal vibrator. Using a vibrator or stroker on your penis may further enhance the sensations.

Pros:

  • made with body safe silicone in the US
  • has 4x 1″ holes for straps, but can still be used without straps
  • easy to clean
  • can be used solo or with partner(s)
  • texture is great for those who are new to grinders or prefer minimal texture

Cons:

  • only available in inventory drops
  • soft silicone can feel sticky or grippy
  • hair, dust, lint, dirt, etc stick to the surface of soft silicone
  • some users may wish for more texture

My Final Thoughts on Paladin Pleasure Sculptors Kyno

As a fan of both Paladin Pleasure Sculptors and grinder sex toys, Kyno is a lovely addition to PPSculptors’ lineup. For me, I wish there was a little bit more texture so I could achieve orgasm easier without vibrator assistance. Despite that wish, I still like the grinder! The design fits well against my anatomy and makes for a delicious warm-up before penetrative sex in a way that reminds me of how I tease penis-having lovers.

I’d recommend Kyno for anyone who also enjoys teasing their penis-having partner(s) that way, as this is a familiar sensation that is sure to make you moan. I think it would also make for a good first grinder for anyone who likes phallic designs or has never tried a grinder before. For those who have used grinders in the past, I’d suggest considering how much texture those you’ve used have and asking yourself if you want more or less texture, and going from there!

I’m not an affiliate for Paladin Pleasure Sculptors, so I don’t have a coupon code to share or anything. Click here to check out Kyno on their site and find the available inventory. I recommend following them on BlueSky to see previews for upcoming inventory drops!

I was gifted Kyno as part of my collaboration with PPSculptors to create Celia. I was not asked to review the grinder, but I like shining light on indie toy companies like PPS. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own!
