A few years ago, I decided to do a Poison Ivy cosplay shoot to film some content for my clip stores, and had the brilliant idea to order a floral dildo from Faux Phallus for a few specific videos. At the time, I didn’t have anything from them in my collection, and I was really, really looking forward to getting a flower dildo for the cosplay.

You may remember me talking about them previously when from my sex grinders guide or my review of the Frangipani V-Plug. They’re an indie toy company based in Australia that makes botanical dildos, butt plugs, pussy plugs and dilators. Faux Phallus primarily does custom pours, however they do also have pre-made options as well. From what I’ve seen, they don’t do big inventory drops the way Fantasy Grove or Creature Feature Toys do.
Buying from Faux Phallus
I was following Faux Phallus on social media and kept seeing their beautiful realistic flower pours, and I knew that was what I wanted for the pour. Beyond color-way, I wanted something that looked like a flower bud, had a long stem, and had a harness compatible base. Without looking at size or anything important like that, I browsed their custom models available and ultimately selected the Hibiscus dildo.

It was one of the first custom dildos I ever purchased and I was such a noob that I didn’t know what firmness meant or how different firmnesses felt on different girths. Not knowing what was best for me and my body, I got a Medium 10A firmness. In retrospect, I wish I had opted for the Soft 00-50 instead.
After placing my order, I almost immediately followed up with them, sending a DM with links to previous pours to let them know what I was hoping for. They were so kind! They sent back pictures of open pigment jars and gave me different color suggestions based on what I was hoping for. As a customer, it was a really good experience buying from them, and I’m grateful that they helped me select better colors for a more realistic flower look.
When I purchased from Faux Phallus, it was while I was still living in the US and before Trump’s tariffs were implemented. The custom toy itself cost $120 and shipping cost $27.25, bringing the total to $147.25 AUS.

Stop and Smell the Hibiscus
The Hibiscus design is a top-heavy one that has a natural lean to it. Even with the Medium 10A firmness, this dildo does not stand up on its own. Any time I try, it falls over unless I lean it against something for support. When wearing it in a strap-on, it needs hand support to keep it straight or angled upwards.
There is very little texture on the Hibiscus. The stem is completely smooth until you get to the sepal, which has some raised V shaped texture that leads into the flower bud or coronal ridge. Then the bud itself has vertical texture, and the very tip has some texture as well. If you’re hoping for a toy with more texture, their flower bud designs may not be ideal for you, but they do have other options that are much more textured!
Faux Phallus sculpts a majority of their designs by hand with clay, with only a couple of exceptions to that. Since their designs are hand sculpted, not all of their insertable toys have multiple size options. Hibiscus is one of those that is only available in one size:
- Length: 245 mm – 9 ⅝ in
- Usable length: 220 mm – 8 ⅝ in
- Max circumference at head: 184 mm – 7 ¼ in
- Max circumference at base: 245 mm – 9 ⅝ in
- Min circumference of shaft: 116 mm – 4 ⅝ in

My Experiences with Faux Phallus Hibiscus
That one size? Well, it took a while to warm up to. A long while. As in, I’ve only successfully, comfortably taken Hibiscus a few times. That max circumference at the head is very large and holy moly, I did not expect that. It ended up taking me over a year to use Hibiscus in any videos because I just was not prepared because I wasn’t stretching very often. Moral of the story: pay attention to measurements, everyone!
With lubricant and patience, I was able to insert Hibiscus, though the size of the head felt so filling that I couldn’t take long strokes with it. Thankfully, my g-spot didn’t need long strokes to receive stimulation! After it was inserted and in range of my g-spot, I found it most comfortable to just tap the base. It gave me very short strokes that targeted my g-spot and made me orgasm very quickly.

I was able to throw strap successfully with Hibiscus. It’s a long enough toy that I didn’t feel like my belly got in the way. I recommend the 2.5″ o-ring from Hankey’s Toys to go with Hibiscus. I paired it with my CalExotics Regal Duchess strap-on harness, though this particular base is compatible with both the Regal Empress and Regal Queen options from the same line. I did also try the Hibiscus with a harness from RodeoH, but their largest o-ring size is 2.0″, and I may have damaged the harness a little bit in stretching the attachment hole.

Cassie was actually the first of us to take Hibiscus. Her reaction was that she wished there was more texture, though she did enjoy the bulbous head and the p-spot stimulation it provided. The size was overall good for her too, though she preferred shallow strokes to better enjoy the shape & size of the head. Cassie does prefer a lot of texture, as she finds that it stimulates her anus in a more pleasurable way that smooth toys.
As a vulva-haver, I don’t have strong feelings on the lack of texture. I think that’s due to the shape of the head being so bulbous. This isn’t the first toy that has such a bulbous head that I can’t focus on anything else. For me, Hibiscus served its purpose for what I bought it for. It may not get a ton of use, but it looks fantastic in content and on my display shelf!
In the future when I buy from Faux Phallus again or have another opportunity to work with them, I’m likely going to go for the Delphinium 7″ or Monstera 9″. These models are dilating dildo designs, rather than a flower bud, with a lot of texture and harness & anal friendly bases.
Pros:
- Customize your firmness, pour style and colors
- Very easy to clean
- Great for g-spot or p-spot stimulation
- Botanical design pairs well with Poison Ivy cosplay
- O-ring harness compatible
- Anal safe
- Minimal texture for those who don’t enjoy texture
Cons:
- Only available in one size
- Minimal texture may be too little for those who do enjoy texture
- Soft silicone makes hair, dust, lint, etc cling to the surface

Care Instructions
Taking care of your toys is really important for preserving them. Faux Phallus makes all of their toys with body-safe silicone, which is really easy to clean, though it can be a little finicky in regards to storing. They recommend only used water-based or oil-based lubricants with their toys, and they do not recommend using silicone-based lubes.
Using an unscented, antibacterial soap, wash Faux Phallus with warm water before and after each use. If you need to do a deeper clean, you can also run your toy through the dishwasher on a sanitize setting without detergent, boil your toy for a few minutes or soak it in a 1:10 bleach:water mixture. Do not boil bleach!!
Silicone is a very flexible material, however it can be permanently imprinted if you store it against a rigid material such as wire shelves. It’s recommended that you avoid biting or scratching silicone, and avoid sharp objects with it. You should also store silicone separately from non-silicone materials such as PVC, jelly, etc. Platinum cured silicone should also not touch tin cured silicone.

The Verdict on Faux Phallus Hibiscus
I think that Faux Phallus really created a beautiful sculpt with Hibiscus. It’s simple, it’s elegant, it’s beautiful. I do wish it came in a slightly smaller size and maybe had a little bit more texture on the shaft, but I also recognize that adding texture would take away from the realistic floral design. The folks who run Faux Phallus are really kind and it really meant a lot to me that they went out of their way to help me with colors. That’s top tier customer service, IMO.
Although there is minimal texture, I do think Hibiscus by Faux Phallus is best suited for people who have experience with bigger circumferences. The head is just so large that this would be a challenge for beginners who are not used to stretching. I would pay close attention to the dimensions when ordering from Faux Phallus to avoid having a similar experience to mine! The easiest way to compare sizes on their site is on their Toy Designs pages, as it lists the dimensions of each toy on a single page rather than clicking between listings.
