Jackalopes hold a special place in my heart, so of course I’ve felt drawn towards Fantasy Grove’s Jackalope dildo. I’ve held out for just the right one in a drop, but alas, after a year of waiting and hoping, I just never saw The Right One for me in a drop. Fantasy Grove ended up offering to make me a new custom toy of my choosing in exchange for a review, so I jumped at the chance to get a Jackalope custom made.
If you’re not familiar with jackalopes, they’re a mythical creature that has the body of a jackrabbit with antlers like an antelope. They’re part of American folklore, though after doing some top level research, Americans aren’t the only ones who have depictions of jackalopes in their media!
The Irrelevant Backstory of Sydney x Jackalope
When I was younger, my parents took my brother and I on cross-country road trips around the continental USA two or three summers while we were all on break from school. My parents, who were both college professors, wanted us to see more of our country, so we’d pack into my grandparents van and drive. I got to see parts of the USA that many Americans never will or maybe didn’t even know existed, like the Corn Palace and Custer State Park. One year, as we drove through the Petrified Forest, my parents convinced my brother and I that jackalopes are real. My brother and I would claim to have seen them, none the wiser to our parents’ trickery. It took the entire summer before my parents confessed to have tricked us.
Fast forward ahead to my late teens or early 20’s, I stumbled upon a company that sold jackalope wall busts, similar to the way hunters hang taxidermy busts of their prize kills, but white ceramic instead. Finding it perfect for our on-going jackalope jokes, I bought one for either my brother or my dad for Christmas. It hung on my brother’s wall for a while, then disappeared into obscurity.
Several years later, as I moved from Florida to Las Vegas with my at the time partner, I pulled the same trick on him. I had him believing jackalopes were real all the way from the west side of Texas until we hit the south east corner of Nevada. The joke was on me though, because once I confessed that jackalopes are not a real species, he then also didn’t believe me that the Petrified Forest was real either.
Meet Fantasy Grove’s Jackalope Dildo
Designed after the legendary jackalope, half stag, half hare, Fantasy Grove’s Jackalope fantasy dildo is a legend itself. You’ll have a much easier time spotting this one, though! Available in 3 sizes, small, medium & large, Jackalope has a lightly veined shaft, a pierced head, and testicles textured to look furry. It has a slight curve to the shaft, and the head is smaller than the shaft, which makes for easy insertion. The piercings on the head are little protruding nubs, which give the tip a good amount of texture, with skin folds and glans along the base of the head leading into the shaft. I’d call the level of texture on Jackalope “moderate.”
I got a size medium Jackalope in a medium firmness (shore 00-50). It’s got a good level of squish to it and it stays upright, maintaining it’s shape. Here are the dimensions:
- Total length: 8″ / 20.32cm
- Useable length: 6″ / 15.24cm
- Minimum Circumference: 4.75″ / 12.065cm
- Maximum Circumference: 6″ / 15.24cm
- Maximum Diameter: 1.9″ / 4.826cm
- Base Circumference: 12″ / 30.48cm
- O-ring size recommendation: 2″ / 5.08cm (if you’re using a harness with a built in o-ring. Size up an o-ring size if you need space for connectors)
Like all of Fantasy Grove’s toys, Jackalope is available in drops or as custom made to order (MTO). For MTOs, customers can select size, firmness, pour style, colors, and add-ons. Customs exclude the options for inclusions, near clear, and hand painting, as these options are only available in inventory drops, which happen ~2x a month. How to Care for Fantasy Grove’s Jackalope
Jackalope doesn’t have as much texture as some fantasy dildos on the market, making it really easy to clean. I end up spending a bit more time cleaning the balls than the shaft, just to make sure I don’t leave any lube in the crevices of the faux fur texture. Using warm water and a silicone friendly soap (antibacterial, unscented and silicone free), wash Jackalope thoroughly before and after each use. For the testicles especially, you may want to use a soft toothbrush to help get in all the nooks and crannies. Don’t scrub too hard, just a nice gentle brushing will do the trick.
If you find yourself wanting to give the dildo a deeper clean, you have a few different options:
- Boil in water for 5-10 minutes, making sure the toy does not rest against the sides or bottom of the pot
- Run through the dishwasher on a sanitize setting without detergent
- Soak in a 1 part bleach, 10 parts water mixture for about 5-10 minutes
As you select your lube to use with Jackalope, make sure you’re only using a water-based lubricant. Fantasy Grove specifies that you should avoid using silicone-based lubes with their products.
Make sure you’re also following storage best practices! Do not store it pressed against any highly textured surfaces, only store with other platinum cure silicone products, do not let it rest against other toys that are not platinum cure silicone, and do not store it in such a way that the toy is bent or stretched (this can damage the shape of the toy if kept like this too long). Also, avoid biting or scratching the toy, as this can also damage the dildo.
Mythical Level Orgasms with Jackalope
When I opened the box from Fantasy Grove, I was blown away by how beautiful the pour they did for me came out. It was everything I wanted and more! More, partially because they also made me a matching Dog Seedling squish to match, and partially because it came out even cooler looking than I imagined. The vibrancy of matte colors was exactly what I hoped for. Honestly, capturing the colors on camera was a challenge, and despite my best efforts, I wasn’t able to do the vibrant yellow, orange and pink marble any justice.
The small head shape makes Jackalope really easy and comfortable for insertion, both vaginally and anally. There is a slight taper to the shape, but it’s not as dramatic as The Plague Doctor or Mrs Whippy. The texture on the shaft itself is much less dramatic than the piercings on the head or the glans, though still noticeable while in use (particularly with long stroke length).
The first time I used Jackalope, I wasn’t too sure I liked it. Cassie, my wife, was using the dildo on me while going down on me, and the little nubs/piercings on the head felt strange. It’s like I could feel them pressing against my insides in a way that felt like each one was poking me. I instantly started second guessing my decision to get the model. Despite the slight discomfort, we continued on and I was able to achieve orgasm, both with and without oral sex.
But what kind of reviewer would I be if I didn’t continue testing the dildo? One single use is hardly enough to give a toy a fair review! So, I kept testing it out.
I’m so glad that I did, because each time I’ve used Jackalope from Fantasy Grove again, I found myself enjoying the texture more and more. The piercings or nubs feel like little ticklers that give me a really pleasurable sensation, now that I know what to expect when taking the full length of dildo.
In fact, I’ve started using the dildo externally to gently rub the head against my clitoris as part of my warm up before taking it. My favorite way to use the dildo solo is to warm up with a gentle vibrator on my clitoris, like the Lelo Nea 2, then use the ticklers on the head of Jackalope to tease my clit for a minute or two before sliding it in and retuning the vibrator to my clit. Or, after insertion, using a more powerful vibrator, like this bullet vibrator, externally while I use the dildo to penetrate myself.
As far as partner play, Jackalope shines when paired with oral sex. My wife did top me using the fantasy dildo in a strap-on harness, which felt fantastic, but my personal preference is to pair it with oral. During oral, my wife is somewhat limited on range of motion, which results in short stroke length, though she does go pretty deep. Shorter but deeper strokes really allow me to enjoy the texture of the head and glans against my g-spot and a-spot, whereas longer strokes made it harder for me to achieve the same level of orgasmic bliss. I still orgasmed, it just wasn’t quite as easy.
Speaking of partner play, Cassie hasn’t reached for Jackalope to use, though she has eyed it a few times. I think she wanted to give me ample opportunity to try it out first, knowing that it is a toy I picked out & customized to my personal tastes, rather than considering both of our tastes. Once she has a chance to use it or have it used on her, I’ll be sure to update this with her thoughts!

Wrapping It Up on Jackalope
I imagine it’s pretty obvious that I’m a fan of Fantasy Grove. Can you blame me? I love indie toy companies, and they really do make great fantasy dildos. Jackalope is a great addition to my collection, and they really nailed the assignment with my color selection. While it did take time to get used to the piercings, I’ve come to love the way they tickle against my anatomy. The glans are incredible for g-spot and a-spot stimulation and the slight taper gives a nice, slight stretch when fully inserted. I’m a fan!
I’d recommend Fantasy Grove Jackalope to fantasy dildo lovers who want a moderately textured toy or people who want to dip their toes into the world of fantasy toys. The texture is most noticeable at the head, while the shaft texture may leave some fantasy toy lovers wishing for more. Personally, I like having a variety of texture intensities available, so this fits into my collection perfectly.
