Fantasy Grove Amanita Mushrom Dildo Review

If you love mushroom sex toys, stop what you’re doing! I need to tell you about Fantasy Grove’s Amanita mushroom dildo. It’s mushroom shaped with mushroom texture, and it’s cute as heck.

Who doesn’t go crazy for mushroom sex toys?! They’re so cute! I’ve yet to see an ugly mushroom sex toy. If you can prove me wrong… well… I accept your challenge!

Buying from Fantasy Grove

I’ve had my eyes on Amanita for a while, but I was waiting for a pour that really spoke to me, because I just really love Fantasy Grove’s pours. Remember the watermelon dildo I reviewed a while back? That’s from them! The hand-painted purple cow print with florals? Also by Fantasy Grove! I’m not going to go too deep into talking about Fantasy Grove, since I’ve done so before. If you’d like to learn more about FG, check out either of those previous reviews!

I know I could order a custom made one, but sometimes the pours they do for drops are only available during a drop, not for customs. Fantasy Grove doesn’t offer near-clear, hand-painting or inclusion options for customs, all of which are things that I am interested in. None of those are make or break for me to buy a toy, just things that I’m interested in having!

There is a downside to this approach, which is that I’d also have to hope that they had Amanita in a size & firmness I could comfortably use. My goal was a size small with a soft or medium firmness. I ended up ordering a size small with near-clear 00-31, which is similar to a soft firmness 00-30.

The one I selected was also a Flop. It has a very, very tiny dark spot inside that’s visible from the base. It’s so small that finding it is an actual challenge, and it’s not even large enough for me to successfully catch on camera. It’s such a itty-bitty, tiny detail that had it not been part of the product listing, I don’t know that it would have caught my eye.

I’ve had my eyes on Amanita for a while, mainly because it’s cute as heck. I imagined that the big head would feel great for g-spot stimulation, and I hoped that the texture wouldn’t be too overwhelming for me. With the head & shaft having such a dramatic difference, I knew I’d need to go for a comfortable size rather than a stretching size.

Prior to making this purchase, I actually spent time with a tape measure and dildos already in my collection. I took measurements of toys that I could comfortably use without needing too much warm up or stretching, noting only the largest of each dimension (height, width, and girth in both circumference and diameter). With that information in hand, I actually felt really prepared to pick out a comfortable size, not a “my eyes are bigger than my pussy” size like I often do.

Having that information handy was really helpful, and now I have it saved along with sizes that I can take and enjoy when stretched. The next time I’m buying toys, custom or otherwise, I can reference the dimensions and purchase accordingly. If you don’t think I’m strongly considering starting a spreadsheet so I can easily track dimensions and rate each toy by comfortability… well, clearly you don’t know how hot I find analytics.

Shipping Internationally

This purchase was my first time ordering from Fantasy Grove internationally. The last purchase we made from them was while we were still living in Las Vegas, so I was curious how it would go and total costs. From the time I received notice that my order shipped to arrival, the total shipping time for was 16 days. Shipping wasn’t terrible for the single toy: €16.95 for standard international, which is also the cheapest option I’ve seen from any US based indie toy company. I also had to pay import fees, which came out to €21.80. The toy itself was €65.95. All together, that’s €104.70 for a small, near-clear flop.

Whew. Doing the math hurts.

My Experiences with Amanita

Yet, I’d still say it’s worth it. I really love Amanita. The mushroom tip is intense, but feels so good. Most of the texture is vertical texture, which I find far more comfortable to take than horizontal ridges. The mushrooms that line the shaft each have bumps that are pretty dramatic, so this toy has a lot of potential for overstimulation. There are also slightly raised bumps on the head itself.

The mushroom head really stole the show though. I found the shape and size such a dramatic difference to the rest of the shaft that my brain focused on just that, which stopped me from feeling overstimulated by the bigger bumps on the shaft of the toy. I’ve also found that the wetter I am, naturally or lubricated, the more comfortable it is to have the toy thrusted into me.

The base of Amanita is pretty comfortable to hold size and shape wise. With my big belly & short arms combo, I didn’t love thrusting it into myself that much. The length of the toy just makes it a little harder for me to self pump and reach my g-spot. I sometimes size up just to get the extra length on toys for easier masturbation, though sometimes at the expense of going with more girth than I can handle.

Anytime I’ve used Amanita on myself, I’d just insert it while using a vibrator externally on my clitoris. Short toys like Amanita make me want to grab one of the ergonomic handles from SilcActs to make thrusting easier during solo use.

The size Small with the NC 00-31 firmness wasn’t very floppy, though I think it has a really nice amount of squish to it. It stands easily on its own, with no drooping. The softness of the material also aided in comfort when using Amanita. I think a firmer toy would end up overstimulating me.

Though Cassie didn’t try taking Amanita due to its size, she did use it on me. Cassie felt that the base was a good size for her to hold onto without it getting in the way while going down on me simultaneously. We did not try it in a strap-on harness, though it is o-ring compatible (depending on which size you get + your harness’s size & weight limitations). If, at some point, we do try it with a strap-on harness or Cassie tries taking Amanita, I’ll update this review accordingly!

Cleaning and Caring for Amanita

With all the texture on Amanita, I recommend having a soft toothbrush that you use just for cleaning toys. Using a toy-friendly soap (soap that is unscented and does not contain silicone), apply the soap to the toy and use the brush to gently clean the toy. No need to scrub or apply much pressure, just gently brush the toy while it’s soapy then rinse with warm water.

If you need to do a deeper clean, you can soak your Fantasy Grove toys in a 1:10 bleach:water mixture for a few minutes, or you can place it in boiling water for 10 minutes, stirring if needed to keep the toy from resting against the bottom or side of the pot. Just remember: do not boil bleach!!

Fantasy Grove recommends only using water-based lubricants with their toys, as silicone lube may damage your toy. They do not offer any guarantees if lubricant damages their products.

More About Amanita

As I mentioned earlier, Fantasy Grove’s Amanita is a mushroom dildo design. They’ve got a really cute story about the design up on the product information listing, though if you’re not into stories, the MTO page for Amanita is straight-forward with a size chart and size comparison graphic. I really love the way Fantasy Grove’s site has the product information listing that displays all available inventory of that specific model.

Amanita is available in 6 different sizes, starting with Extra Small up to XX Large. Personally, I find the product information page a lot easier for side by side looks at the size chart and the size comparison graphic. I got a size small, which has these dimensions:

  • Total length: 5.25”
  • Usable length: 4.6”
  • Min circumference: 5”
  • Max circumference: 5.75”
  • Max diameter: 1.8”
  • Base circumference: 9”

If you’re interested in getting a made-to-order (MTO) Amanita, you can select your size, firmness, pour style, colors and add-ons. The pour styles available are solid color, split color, marble, marbled fade, or fade. Fantasy Grove has 43 color options available, though I do wish their color charge was available larger or at least clickable. There are two add-ons available: drips and/or highlights.

Pros:

  • Customize your size, firmness, pour style, color(s) & add-ons, or shop inventory drops
  • Great for g-spot or p-spot stimulation
  • O-ring compatible
  • Anal friendly

Cons:

  • Lots of nooks & crannies can be a challenge to clean
  • Soft silicone tends to have more drag & collect dust, hair, etc easier
  • Hand-painting, near-clear, and inclusions are only available in Inventory Drops, and often go quickly

Final Thoughts on Amanita

I really love Amanita by Fantasy Grove. The shape is really fun and playful, though the texture is likely to overstimulate some. I would recommend Amanita to users who are comfortable with a lot of texture and those who enjoy bumps & groves & dramatic head shapes. I’m really glad that I finally purchased an Amanita for myself, and I really love the pour that I got.
