I’m honored to be a part of the Alliance of Independent Sex Toy Testers, a group of sex toy review bloggers who are trusted by the sex toy community to adhere to a strict set of standards.
The Standards We Believe In
- All products recommended by the blog are body-safe.
- All shops recommended by the blog are safe.
- All blogs respect the diversity of gender and don’t gender sex toys as “male” or “female.”
- All blogs are written by people who are passionate about the subjects they cover, not by people who are only trying to make money. Many of us make some money but it isn’t the main reason we write.
- All of the writers in our alliance show honesty and authenticity in their reviews.
- All of the writers of the blogs in our alliance can demonstrate that they genuinely own ALL the products that they review and recommend.
- All writers are genuinely knowledgeable in their subjects. They don’t copy their content from elsewhere or “regurgitate” external content.
- No blogs in the alliance contain discrimination, hate or material intended to shame/exclude.
- No blogs in the alliance use questionable, unethical or uncompetitive methods to build links and advertise their website. In short — we are genuine bloggers.
- There is a preference that the blogs have been up for at least 1 year and have at least 16 reviews published.
Why This Matters
My goal in writing sex toy reviews is to give my readers as much information as I can to help decide if a sex toy is right for them or not. I spend hours testing each toy, taking notes, taking photos, and writing the review. I try to be as thorough as possible to give consumers the best information I possibly can, because what works for me may not work for them. Why? Because that’s what I want to see when I’m going through and reading reviews.
Before I make most purchases, I spend a lot of time researching what I plan to buy, but I’m often met with the challenge of having to sort through what is legitimate and what is fake. Fake reviews are everywhere, and they’re not limited to any one industry. There is an entire “industry” of review websites that pump out generic reviews of products they’ve never tried, let alone held in their hands. Those sites exist solely to make money.
That’s why the Alliance of Independent Sex Toy Reviewers is so important. We’re a group of sex toy bloggers who hold each other accountable and believe in authenticity, inclusivity, and safety. Each and every member of the Alliance is a trusted sex toy reviewer who is shown to meet the minimum standards.
We may make money off our reviews, whether it’s via affiliate earnings or paid reviews, but what makes us stand apart is our standards and our dedication to doing better. We’re passionate about our craft and we’re passionate about sex toys.
If you’d like to learn more about how to spot fake reviews, check out ObsessionRouge’s guide about trusting online reviews.
