2015: A Year in Review

1. What did you do in 2015 that you’d never done before?
I moved in with a partner that was more than *just* a friend. I’ve never lived with a boyfriend or girlfriend before, and at the end of January 2015, My boyfriend and I moved into a beautiful home together. I also went to Jamaica for a week, which is somewhere I’d never been before. And I rang in the new year in Las Vegas (I hadn’t been prior to the end of 2014/beginning of 2015). I also got fired from a job, something that had never happened to Me before (and what I’ve grown to consider a blessing in disguise).

2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions?
I don’t think I actually made any! Which is basically what I do every year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not really. I mean, I know a few people who had kids, but none of said people are super close friends or family.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Someone who used to be close died. And it was terrible even though we had grown apart over the years. He was an amazing individual and I had introduced him to my best friend while we were in high school. They became really great friends, and his death was extremely devastating to her. An ex-coworker of mine, who was a ray of sunshine in a very grey & dull period of my life, was brutally murdered. I wouldn’t call either of them close friends by any means, but they were each really great people whose lives were ended way too early.

5. What countries did you visit?
Jamaica Vacation I went to Jamaica! I had never been there before, so that was really freaking cool. I spent a week lounging on the beach, drinking fruity cocktails, snorkeling in the ocean, and eating luxurious food with My partner.

6. What would you like to have in 2016 that you lacked in 2015?
I’m not sure. I don’t really think I was lacking anything in 2015, for which I’m extremely thankful. I guess I’d like to grow My business even further and have that success continue to grow. More free time would have been greatly enjoyed too, come to think of it.

7. What dates from 2015 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Ok, so I have a couple. The first night cute boyfriend and I spent in our new home together…we didn’t have most of our furniture yet, so the mattress was on the living room floor and the TV on an IKEA $9 table…and it was so fulfilling. That when it really hit me that we were moving in together. As dorky as it sounds, the day I went to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens was such an amazing day. I sat in the theater thinking about how excited I was when news hit that Disney was making more movies and it seemed like it was so far away. But then I was sitting in the theater with the person who I had talked to about Star Wars the most and realized it was finally happening and the movie was SO GOOD.

8. What was your biggest achievement(s) of the year?
Hmmm… I had a very successful year in terms of business. But I think my biggest achievement was becoming a better communicator and learning to live with a partner.

9. What was your biggest failure?
I got fired from a vanilla job after I didn’t speak up about issues that were directly impacting my ability to do my work properly.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Not anything major. I had a couple small little sicknesses here and there, but for the most part I remained pretty healthy all year. I did manage to not sprain my ankle in 2015, so that was a success!

11. What was the best thing you bought?
My new iMac. I’m still swooning over it.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My Mom’s for managing to not kill her mother-in-law when they moved into a house together.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
I can’t really think of anything, thankfully.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Living expenses. When I moved out of my apartment and into a house, all of my expenses went way up. Rent almost tripled, power bill went up, cable & internet… gah. Oh, and eating. Cause we like food here in this house. And vacation. And iMac.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Going to Jamaica on vacation!! And buying a brand new shiny iMac. And Star Wars.

16. What song will always remind you of 2015?

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Much happier!
b) thinner or fatter? About the same, thankfully. It was a year of gains and then, thankfully, losses
c) richer or poorer? Richer, I think.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Exercising and camming. Practicing my art (photography). Traveling.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Doing nothing. As much as I absolutely adored sitting on the couch cuddling with My cute boyfriend, I’m fairly certain I could have really boosted My business had I spent a bit more time focusing on it. But… ya know what? Never mind. I’m not actually sad about those moments spent with him. Because he spends so much time away that those moments were amazing.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I spent Christmas at home with cute boyfriend and his family. His parents came to stay with us for a week and we had a big English style Christmas dinner with lamb, yorkshire puddings, stuffing, gravy, roasted potatoes, green beans & carrots. It was delicious.

21. Did you fall in love in 2015?
No, I was already here 🙂

22. How many one-night stands?
Zero!

23. What was your favorite TV program?
Doctor Who, Star Trek TNG, Jessica Jones, Master of None

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
nope!

25. What was the best book you read?
Oh man.. that’s hard. I read several good books. I really enjoyed Life After Life, though.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I’m the worst when it comes to musical discoveries.

27. What did you want and get?
A new computer, a vacation out of the country, moving in with my cute boyfriend, visiting my parents’ new home in NC.

28. What did you want and not get?
More vacations

29. What was your favorite film of this year?
Star Wars!

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 28 and I got a whole bunch of Star Wars swag from some awesome people. Birthday day was spent having friends over for dinner & getting silly.

31.What was one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Several million dollars? More stamps on my passport? More time spent photographing women.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2015?
Comfortable and not very different from 2014. I don’t think I bought much clothing this year, for once.

33. What kept you sane?
My kittens & my cute boyfriend!!

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
As usual, I don’t really pay attention to celebrities and public figures.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Women’s Rights pertaining to health issues mostly. Student loan debates. Sex worker rights followed close behind. Probably medical marijuana, too, but to a much lesser extent.

36. Who did you miss?
Everyone. Moving in with cute boyfriend meant moving away from most of my friends, and while many would visit from time to time, it definitely wasn’t as easy to just call/text a friend and be like “Hey, let’s go do something right now.” That was really rough for me, because I’m a fairly social person when it comes to spending time with people I know & love.

37. Who was the best new person you met?
2015 wasn’t as good for me for meeting new people as 2014 was.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2015.
Remember that my peers & colleagues have different experiences than I, and always to respect those, no matter what.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
As usual, music is not my strongest area, I don’t really have a good one. :/
